Hot damn daddy-o! Here we have a deliciously decadent collection of rockabilly and surf music from the 1950s. It's all zoot suits, wrap around shades and Bettie Page types dancing on pink and turquoise cocktail tables. Tiki holidays in Hawaii with the sweet smell of 'jazz cigarettes' driving all the young folk into a debauched, kitsch-trash frenzy. Simply 'Crazy man, crazy'!

TIM PARIS feat GEORG LEVIN

Review:
Tim Paris is an old hand at forthright, electro and new wave influenced house, though rarely has he made anything quite as robust as "Golden Ratio". Featuring the slick vocals of Sonar Kollektiv and BBE regular Georg Levin, the track is formidably fuzzy - all Joy Division-ish guitars, Cabaret Voltaire electronics and kick-driven house grooves. It's curious, but very appealing in a post-punk kind of way. Villanova and John Tejada remix, with the latter vocal and instrumental versions of his warm, glistening, tech-tinged deep house mix. Villanova, meanwhile, goes for a glitchier, wonkier vibe on his shuffling, deep tech-house take.

Time get out the 'shrooms out as Claremont 56's dancefloor offshoot Leng present this psychedelic DJ mix from Psychemagik. Yes these nu-disco freakazoids have been granted the right to take us on an hour-long journey that takes in their beloved afro-beat, disco, funk and psychedelia. High-lights of this trip include the flower power vibes of "Catching A Wave", the saucy Euro-funk of "Gozame Ya!" and the west coast Manilow-isms of ""House Of The Rock".

Safety Scissors has already featured quite prominently on Ellen Allien's BPitch Control, a label which readily guarantees quality on all fronts, but this is his first full-length work for the imprint and only his third altogether. It's certainly bold and different to many other things featuring on the label, but Mr. Scissors has created quite a spectacle, where acoustic-ambient moments such as "Moving Light" are intertwined with maniacal beat-shredding like "Somnambulance", the straighter 4/4 licks of "Gemini" or even the laid-back, pop rhythms of "Progress & Perseverance" and the glitchy, vocal-led flex on "Lights Out". It's great to see such a successful electronic label doing things just that little bit differently!
Exclusive compilation of Juno's favourite Late Night Tales' tracks available at a special low price, including voucher for 25% discount on further LNT downloads
Here at Juno HQ, we rather like the long running Late Night Tales series, where esteemed bands, musicians, producers and DJs give us a taste of what post-club listening is like round their gaff. To celebrate the series, we've put together a little low-price bundle featuring some of our favourite tracks from the unmixed versions of the compilations. There's plenty to enjoy, from the shuffling goodness of Kenny Dixon Jnr's slightly overlooked remix of Innerzone Orchestra, and the Balearic goodness of Steve Miller Band and Chris Rea, to the classic hip-hop styles of Mos Def and Souls of Mischief. As if that wasn't enough for less than a fiver, you also get 25 per cent off any downloads from the LNT catalogue. Bargain!

Review:
Six years after the release of their first inspirational Late Night Tales mix, fey Scottish post-indie miserablists Belle & Sebastian unveil a second volume. Given the unusual and exciting nature of their first collection, hopes are naturally high for Volume 2. Thankfully, it's every bit as odd, enjoyable and enlightening as the first edition. Psychedelic folk-pop, Indian soul, Balkan beats, Spanish crooners, Chanson ballads, film soundtrack compositions, Gold Panda, The Lovin' Spoonful, dancehall, The Pop Group and Pete Shelley all feature, alongside a range of thrillingly strange records that defy easy categorization. As a collection of music, it's breathtakingly brilliant, while the accompanying DJ mix is wonderful.

Review:
Synth-bothering indie-popsters Friendly Fires are the latest contributors to the uniformly excellent Late Night Tales series, and they seem desperate to prove just how diverse their tastes are. Oh, and their underground credentials. So, we get fuzzy stoner disco (Renee), curious French electro-disco oddness (Space), shirts-off end of night goodness (the much-played but still ace "Like An Eagle" by Dennis Parker), krautrock-inspired indie pop (Stereolab, Cocteau Twins), classic US garage (Iron Galaxy), future anthems (SBTRKT), dream-pop (Junior Boys, Lauren Halo), folksy musings (Grouper), and even a dash of Olivia Newton-John (the decidedly Balearic "Love Song"). While a cynic may raise a surprised eyebrow at some of the selections, there's no denying their quality.

Review:
The much-lauded Jamie XX rework of Gil Scott-Heron's 2010 album I'm New Here finally arrives, and it's pretty darn good. In truth there's little quite as gorgeously ambitious as the strangely anthemic teaser single "NY Is Killing Me" (included here), but that doesn't stop it being an excellent listen. Not so much a set of remixes as a total reproduction, We're New Here places the veteran beat poet's distinctive vocals at the heart of a heady, other-worldly soup of eclectic beats (think dubstep, hip-hop and wonky house), booming basslines, sparkling house riffs, blissful melodies and paranoid late night atmospherics. A near perfect 33 minutes, all told.
