Review:
The work of Mancunian brotherly duo Shadowdancer aka Alan and Paul Farrier, Love From Alan & Paul was recorded back in the late 90s. What is so surprising about this work is that it has survived the ravages of time. When recording the album, the Farrier brothers took inspiration from classic UK and US techno, and in places these influences are clearly audible. Take "Encore Room", with its blissed out melodies and loose break beats, which replicates long forgotten artists like Insync, or "Pressurized", which features the resonating keys and booming bass of Kevin Saunderson's classic Reese project. However, the Farriers have also gone their own way and the ponderous guitar chimes of "Not Even The Rain" suggests a youth spent listening to the Blue Nile.

Review:
Razor-sharp London electro label Bad Life send out carriages to Leeds and Belgium for this cross-continental co-lab three-piece. "Awkward Peanut" leads, and while the title suggests an episode of Peanuts when Charlie Brown felt up Snoopy, it's actually a nitro-disco romp of poisonous acid proportions. With a mighty build up and electric pay-off, there's nothing awkward about it at all. Sound Of Stereo's "Push Me", meanwhile, takes a deeper, more attentive look at the 808 acid line with funky, dynamic results. Urchins' own "Antithesis" finishes the set with a beefed up dose of peaktime acid insanity that borders into techno territory with its ear-twisting loops buried deep under the riff.
