Review: Big, filthy and raw sounds here on the Bass Machine label, primed for chunky sound systems - but then what else would you expect!? Lifting the accapella from a 1987 Chicago house classic (Ralph Roasario's "You Used To Hold Me"), Multi Dubz lay down a beefy 4/4 kick augmented by some cavernous bass echoes and slashing hats. Do check the Hollow mix too for an altogether more stripped back, linear take. In a word, epic.

Review: The Bass Machine label has been pushing all things bass, since its inception in 2009. This latest release has a Wild West theme, with lead track "Killer From The West" featuring pumping house beats, a Dreadzone-style dub bassline and samples from cowboy movies. "Desert Wind" continues the theme, but with deeper bass and a recurring banjo motif. "Good & Bad (Piano Saloon dub)" celebrates the unlikely union of cowboys, wobble bass and trancey synths. Lastly, "Harmonica" takes the famous mouth organ riff from Once Upon A Time In The West and weaves it around some serious garage action, yeee-hah!

Whilst "Mix 1" plays a heavy '90s garage groove - complete with unstoppable hats and a wonked out and thick bassline - "Mix 2" comes in with a turbo strapped to the bonnet. Faster and with more of a bassline influence, it's a heavy rave diamond that's nicely in debt to the golden age of UK hardcore.

Review: Another hard-hitting release from the Bass Machine label, this time coming from Perth's DYP, whose "Ricochet" combines junglist rhythms with some satisfying bass squelch to create an undeniably raucous fusion of sounds. Remixes come from Arrows Of Time, who deliver a dark breakbeat version complete with melodic breakdowns that hark back to '89, and J.Jean, who straightens the track out with a swung house beat and reworks the bassline into something altogether more delicate, creating something that is more UK funky than jungle.

"Requiem" takes its beat cues from the glory days of speed garage, whilst filling the track out with modern wobbles, dark cello samples and echoey pianos on this 130 BPM smasher. Review: Always on point with the latest and hardest future-garage beats, the Bass Machine label play an ace with this new double-tracker from Pledge. The original features a huge drop emerging from some frozen synth-string notes and a chunky yet lithe rhythm that sports some messed-up bass nicely. Review: Russian speed-garage don Mark Krupp returns with this trio of hush-hush bootlegs. "Days Like That" uses the accapella from the Headhunters tune of the same name and works up a clattering, mid-'90s garage beat underneath it which sets it off nicely. Roll Deep's "Good Times" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" get the same bassline treatment, upping the bpm's and the heart palpitations massively in both instances.

Review: Some excellent new garage-flecked electro from Russian label Bass Machine, with Soundbwoy Addiction supplying a riveting set of hyped bangers on the In Stereo EP. BM fans will appreciate the bassline/speed garage of the title tune, and the accompanying dub version, "Intro" is the real standout - coming in at a slower, 120bpm tempo, it builds from a clever bass arpeggio and drops into a Siriusmo/Boys Noize-style beat that's packed with canny sample shots that wash over the tune nicely. "Spaceship" is just as good, with Eastern synth riffs layered over a jacking 90s beat, while "Outro" is a subtle bass track that just keeps building.
