Review:
Relative newcomer 1Dan impresses on this lovingly-crafted two-tracker for Batti Batti. Lead cut "Speckled" is particularly warm and cosy, all woozy synths, crackly atmosphere and simple, unfussy production. The addition of some barely-audible backgrown chatter and dub style chords gives it a pleasing depth, despite the clarity of the elements. "Wishing Well", meanwhile, breaks up the beats and thickens the lower end whilst retaining the snug, hot water bottle pads and chords. It's an addictive combination, and one that should see him pick up plenty of new fans. One to watch, for sure.

Review:
Aha me hearties! Deep house pirates Bittersuite invite you to find your Sea Legs on a journey to the bottom of the sea aboard the good ship Batti Batti. Nautical naughtiness abounds on the title track (buried, oddly, at the tail end of the EP), where a friendly shoal of synth-playing angelfish will escort you towards warmer waters. If you don't succumb to the hypnotic, mind-altering charms of "Cabin Fever", you can bask in calmer waters of "Re Prog", a blissful drift through the Bering Strait (that's the short sea that separates Alaska and Russia, for any non geography buffs) with only a pile of super-deep house records for company.

Review:
More from serial deep housers Owen Jay and Melchior Sultana on Batti Batti. Following the well-received "Way Of Life" single, they've decided to go even deeper - so deep, in fact, that they're crawling along the floor of the Pacific Ocean in one of those tiny diving bell submarines. While watching re-runs of David Attenborough documentaries on a tiny DVD player. Certainly, "Distant Dream" has a grandiose, Discovery Channel-goes-deep house feel - all sonar-riffic low end throb, swirling pads and twinkling melodies - and it should appeal to anyone who enjoys curling up with a big pair of headphones and some touchy-feely deep house. Jay himself remixes, delivering a more driving, hypnotic version for late night floors.

Review:
Owen Jay's Batti Batti label has always fought the battle for "genuine deepness", championing the sort of raw, soulful fare that should impress all those with a love of the best Detroit and Chicago productions. This split EP, featuring a number of regular label contributors, is defiantly deep. Jay and Melchior Sultana's "Spheric", for example, sounds like classic dub house with an ocean-deep finish, while Natan H's "Alpinism" could pass for a classic Three Chairs cut. The most striking cut of all, though, comes from Cleveland, whose clicky "Pandora" is a deep, string-laden beauty. Almost as good is Bittersuite's bongo-laden "Monk Vibe", which could easily pass as a Jus' Ed production.
