Review: Making his full EP debut on Marco Del Horno's Bullet Train, Last Japan flexes his musical muscles to a major degree here, stretching from deep, pounding grime to turbo-injected euphoric rave in exemplary style. "East" leads; blunt but brave with cool Compton flavoured synth work and well-measured moody lyrics from Trimm, it's a fine introduction to his production work and versatility. "You" follows; a sexified R'n'B flavoured joint, welded with fractured beats, a slinky bassline and some fine vocals from Avrg Joe, this one will woo the ladies onto your floor before you can say 'sexy time'. "Hidden" is the party piece; 140 rave breaks polished with sophisticated synth work and a tearing Amen just when you least expect it. "Ragid Man Mode" finishes the set with an aggressive note thanks to Red Boy G's Newham Generals style flow.

Review: Head of Bullet Train records, bass-charging producer Marco Del Horno drops some real fire in the form of five new tracks on his own label. With a dubby mainroom vibe mixed with some more UKF-leaning rhythms, MDH's "Call Out Your Name" is a warm yet fierce keeper, while the more tech-slanted dubstep of "It's You Again" makes for a gnarly winner too.

Review: Rinse FM DJ and all round star, Marco Del Horno teams up with Emi Green and releases "This Town Is Ours" with an enormous remix package featuring SPY, Dream, Kavsrave, Bondax, Last Japan v Skanky plus an acoustic and instrumental version of the original. Defiant tones, stern beats and rude grime lyrics dominate the original but then SPY adds trademark liquid sparkle with true D&B finesse, with soaring strings and rolling breaks, whilst the Dream remix is a Doctor P screech special and Kavsrave's an uber cool re-lick. Bondax's is a pumping 4/4 mix with reverberating vox and hissing beats and Last Japan vs Skanky's version is a rolling viber to finish things off.

Review: Featuring tracks from such luminaries as Hudson Mohawke, Benga and 16bit alongside new talent such as Shift Key and Morcee, Bullet Train Volume Two, selected by Bullet Train label head Marco Del Horno and Last Japan, spans the breadth of everything that's important right now in dubstep, bass and UK funky. Featuring a continuous DJ mix from the duo, as well as all the tracks unmixed, highlights include the snare driven riddims of Lil' Silva's "Patience", the massive dubstep bassline of Marco Del Horno and DJ Swerve's "Ho Riddim" and the fluid percussive workout that is R1 Ryders' "Just A Feeling".

Review: The latest release from Marco Del Horno's Bullet Train comes courtesy of London duo N55, aka producer Luke Oldham and Marco Giuliani (Last Japan). "My High" is a knockout double hitter comprising a warbly 'you are my high' vocal sample and tongue twisting rap from Rtkal. "Eclipse" is utterly different, being blissed out digital Balearica with hip-hop beats, "Lego" is quirky RnB and finally "Who Knew" is so well polished, it could almost be US top ten material.

Review: A wonderfully ethereal release here from teenage producer Pale. The Yearn EP, released on the Bullet Train label, opens with the richly melodic title track, in which a sparse yet richly melodic soundscape similar to The xx's excellent "Intro" is created. "Those Ships", up next, is a more joyous affair, with uplifting tampered vocals and all manner of intricate post-dubstep atmospherics. Final track "Ghosts" is easily our favourite - the vocal elements shine brightest, the beat is stripped back and the overall sensation is heavenly. One for fans of Mount Kimbie, Four Tet and James Blake.

Review: The best thing about this EP from Shift Key is its great versatility - though the quality of the production and composition isn't far behind. Opener "Manage Ya" delivers a dubbed-out fusion of tropical percussion, echo-laden vocal samples and piercing riffs, before "Take Me Away" sparkles with its slick soul vocal and tinkling pianos. "Me & You" adds a similarly cute vocal to a thumping 4/4 rhythm, before "You Tonight" breaks up the beats and layers up music box melodies with the briefest of vocal samples. Throughout, the vibe is casually soulful - something that helps Step In The City really stand out.

Review: The ever-talented Stinkahbell come up with a killer collection of tracks in the cleverly entitled Losing Tracks EP on Bullet Train. Electrifying and intense, the first of five tracks is "Overreactor" with its heavily layered soundscape, whirring bass, stabbing synths and insistent pounding sounds, gets things off to a bold start. Next up is "Professor Jerk" with its quirky rhythms and experimental edge; then it's "Soothing It Down" with its chiming, triangle tones and grizzled synth splodges. "The 23rd Hour" is possibly one of the least exuberant tracks on the EP with a more traditional dubstep vibe; and then the title track rounds things off in style.
