Review:
Originally released in 2009 and supported at the time by big names like Josh Wink and Marco Carola, it's no understatement to say that the remixers here face a daunting task. Thankfully, they rise to the occasion and the new versions are sure to win the same kind of big name support. Kabale Und Liebe's take on "Bellawatt" is a jerky, acid-fuelled groove, made all the more spacey thanks to a stoned vocal sample. By contrast, Martinez' take on "Route 277" is more robust and drum-heavy, its dubby bassline making it the perfect DJ tool. But the remix highlight is Soy Mustafa's take on "Supranaturale"; deep and chugging, it strikes the perfect balance between depth and dance floor functionality.

Review:
As one of those artists that gets forgotten amidst the hype of his fellow Detroit brethren, Reggie Dokes has been doggedly doing his thang for well over a decade now. His approach is heavy on the rough sampling and fractured groove, but imbued with a heavy sense of soul. "Child Of The Sun" is a thoroughly jacking romp that wrestles with an oddball synth, stark flecks of piano and plastic strings while the beat hammers away incessantly. "Funk Below" focuses more heavily on the piano while rolling out in a similarly stilted fashion that builds to a more symphonic crescendo of melodies.

Review:
It's clear from "Return of the Anunnaki" that Soy Mustafa has an intuitive knack for crafting melodic, moody techno. The original version features a spiky, lithe rhythm, but it's the musical elements that really impress. As the track progresses, Mustafa adds in layered chords and a foreboding synth that hangs in the air over the arrangement, with eerie strings adding to the sense of musical menace. Chymera delivers a squelchy acidic take that focuses on the chord sequences, while both of John Tejada's remixes serve as a reminder that Mustafa has learnt a lot from the LA producer. Featuring Tejada's unmistakable melancholy-fuelled melodies and love of evocative hooks, they complete an essential deep techno package.
