Review:
Equations Of Motion debunks the myth that techno is disposable and has a severely limited shelf life. Nearly 11 years after Glenn Wilson, Patrick Skoog and Staffan Ehrlin released the EP, this reissue sounds vitally fresh. Admittedly, the fast pace, abrasive percussion and all-encompassing filters on "Co-Ordinate Systems" and "Magellan" sound rougher around the edges than the current wave of Berghain-friendly streamlined techno, but it's exactly this edginess that guarantees their continued relevance. "Angular Momentum" sounds even more out of time with contemporary styles: clearly inspired by Kevin Saunderson's Resse project, the crashing break beats, surging bass and powerful claps combine for an interpretation on a strain of techno that will probably sound just as timeless a decade from now.
