Review: Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant label comes through with their 28th release and it's a label debut for the Agents Of Time polyhedron of Andrea Di Ceglie, Fedele Ladisa, and Luigi Tutolo. The Italian trio only formed the Agents Of Time project last year but have already served up Spread The Word, an album for Stem Records which showcased their mastery at blending analogue and digital equipment to craft a unique sound. The lead track on their Correspondant label debut has already been picked up by Dixon, Agoria and Tale Of Us and it's easy to see why as it's blessed with that progressive style that Agents of Time have swiftly made their own. "Magdalene" is a tauter production punctuated by some haunting organ chords, whilst Alex Smoke ends matters on a darker note with a nicely subaqueous remix of "Polina".

Review: Following on from his recent appearance on a Correspondant label compilation, upcoming producer Bird of Paradise is given a full EP to articulate his unusual sound. "Brothel Drummer" kick starts the release in unexpected manner, a half-paced, drum-heavy workout. However, the producer really impresses on the title track and on "And The Half Light". Both tracks use live drumming, loose, pulsing grooves and gentle trance-inducing melodies to seduce the listener. Bird of Paradise also faces some serious competition from remixer Lauer. The German Dj/producer tightens the drums, adds some cowbells and uses Italo synth hooks to turn the title track into a long-forgotten 80s gem.

Review: Through her Correspondant label, Jennifer Cardini has proved particularly adept at signing records that don't fit into neat genre pigeonholes, and instead are bound by a certain perspective or distinct sense of atmosphere. That's certainly the case with this EP from Spanish producer Carreno Is LB, whose productions have previously appeared on Days of Being Wild, Items & Things and Astro Lab. Disharmony is made up of a suite of creepy, odd and unusual tracks that variously touch on mutant electro ("Step 3"), dubbed-out dark disco ("Step 2"), coldwave-inspired techno (the standout "Step 1"), and twisted ambient ("Step 0" and "Step 5"). Norwegian producer Andre Bratten provides the lone remix, turning the beatless "Step 5" into a seductive, acid-flecked, dark house throbber.

Review: Jennifer Cardini's label continues on its mission to provide a platform for the deeper, more reflective side of electronic music. Fellow French producer Demian's "Lucha Libre" starts off with the kind of frazzled, sonorous textures one would associate with shoegaze acts like My Bloody Valentine, but he fuses these elements with a tight and lean rhythm and subtle filtering that lends it the necessary dance floor clout. "Does Anybody Know Who They Are?" is slightly faster and its beats are heavier, but Demian still brings a lightness and deftness of touch to the arrangement through the use of billowing, tranced-out chords.

Review: Die Wilde Jagd are Sebastian Lee Philip. Ralf Beck is musician and producer from Dusseldorf. He has released several albums as part of the duo Nalin & Kane, as well as under the name Unit 4. He collects old synthesizers and effect pedals and has worked with Karl Bartos. In his studio Uhrwald Orange, he has recorded music by Propaganda, Kreidler, Black Devil Disco and many more. Sebastian Lee Philip is part of the Berlin-based electro-wave duo Noblesse Oblige and composes music for theatre and radio plays. Between 2001 and 2006 he lived in London where he ran the club night 'Caligula' and performed as a DJ. "Geisterfahrer" is cosmic and spacey kraut rock that sees the pair propel you into the stratosphere. British duo Factory Floor's excellent remix strips things back and takes things on a darker and technological turn with this minimal electro epic. On the flip, "Drachenfels" sees Beck and Philip do their thing again: lose yourself in this eight minutes of absolute bliss awash in reverberated drums, delayed guitar riffs and splendid arpeggios.

Review: This release is a sign of how much of a global phenomenon underground electronic music is, as all of the contributors come from Mexico. Thomass Jackson kick-starts the release with "Bad Chat", a malevolent, bass-heavy groove that is propelled over frenetic drum rolls. Eddie Mercury's "Rim Cow Shot" inhabits a similar space, albeit one that is powered by grainy kick drums and razor-sharp percussive volleys. An interest in the darker side of electronic music must be a common theme for Mexican producers because both Mijo's "Working Late" and Inigo Vontier's "Lunatico" are led by eerie, warbling synths and throbbing basslines and Theus Mago's "Ritmo Extraterrestre" is a wild acid extravaganza.

Review: Jennifer Cardini's Correspondent label continues the cool, dark new wave sound that evolved from her time as a resident in Parisian electroclash institution Le Pulp. Here Javi Redondo fits in with this agenda perfectly by providing three slices of nonchalant, cigarette-puffing disco-noir. "Summer On Repeat" is steeped in Euro melancholia - all arpeggiated riffs and hiding-behind-wayfarers-on-a-windswept-beach tragedy. Elsewhere "Sun Sign" is hypnotic middle-eastern electronica with a Kill The DJ-style twist and "Narcotic Luv" is pure Giorgio Moroder at his most haunted.

Review: Jennifer Cardini's label has developed an in-house style with its low-slung, rumbling electronic grooves - and Cornetto will only serve to enhance its identity. The work of a new Mexican artist, Cornetto revolves around heavy, pitched down beats, visceral percussion and on the title track, screeching, deranged horns. "LMM" sees Jones veer towards the kind of dark, EBM house that Tiefschwaz used to excel at during the early '00s, but it can't compare to the stand out track, "Slow". Underpinned by a spiky, new wave rhythm, vocalist Mijo contemptuously spits out an incoherent rant over wave upon wave of icy synths.

Review: There's a real acid house feeling to this release. It begins on the title track, where the anonymous producer lays down layer upon layer of nagging 303s and brassy samples over sassy breakbeats. Meanwhile, "Parenthesis" recalls early UK experiments with acid tracks, as emissions from the Roland are dropped over jazz-infused rhythms and samples from a philosophical debate about human labour keep cropping up in the arrangement. If that isn't post-modern enough then the remixes will satisfy even the most demanding Situationist. The Hardways Bros take on "Kiloton" resonates to a menacing bass and steely drums, while Raudive's excellent version of "Parenthesis" sees Oliver Ho fuse a fuzzy EBM bass with a slamming industrial rhythm.

Review: Newcastle via Mexico via Berlin's Man Power has impressed many with his modern takes on classic house, acid and balearic style business in recent times. He released his eponymous album in mid 2015 on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant and here come the remixes, finally! Starting out with Moscoman's rendition of "Beilsteiner", a deep dark and dirty nu-disco cruiser, there's more quality on Juan Miguel Bassols aka JMII's lush and dreamy deep house remix of "Hunting Swan" and finally with what we thought was probably the real highlight on here: Pale Blue's Drum-A-Pella Remix of "Boys Beware" where the artist formerly known Troubleman Unlimited teams up with Elizabeth Wight for a rusty and dusty minimal EBM take on the track.

Review: Italian duo Marvin & Guy are back with a new one for Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant imprint and following up some seriously awesome EPs on Hivern Discs and their own Marvin & Guy label. "Targa" is a collaboration with Frenchman Sebastian Bouchet (Kompakt) which is one seriously epic journey track featuring the most soaring arpeggio that will help you drift far far away on the dancefloor over its full 13 minutes of glory. "Countach" is a bit more restrained but just as atmospheric with its subdued melodics and persisting organ riff which really builds suspense. Finally "Stratos" gets a bit fierce on us with this tight tech house cut with booming bass, dark pads and.. rock guitar riffs? You bet, sounds pretty great too believe us.

Review: Last year, Benoit Gagnon sent some tunes to Massimilano Pagliara in order to receive critical feedback. However, the Live At Robert Johnson regular was so inspired by what he heard, though, that he decided to add his own "personal analogue touch". Here, the unusual collaborations get an airing on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant [sic] label. First up is "In Spirals", a trippy, slowly building groover built around snappy analogue drum hits and a rolling dub disco bassline. The duo reaches for the winding acid lines and drawn-out chords on the hissing "Agamous", before Pagliara's Italo-disco/John Carpenter inspired synthesizer lines come to the fore on the brilliant "Go South" and standout "Don't Push Me".

No longer pushing their punk funk vibes like they were in the early-90s, it's more on the deep house tip this time for Jennifer Cardini's Correspondent imprint. Starting off with the dreamy and drifting "The Wurlitzer Wank", things get a bit more on the upbeat tech house tip with the smooth "The Bosus Bounce". It also gets a decent remix by Secret Circuit who gives an exotic and balearic make over. Not bad at all.

Here he returns - for the first time since - with "Disturbed", a cheery, cosmically inclined chunk of jaunty, late night nu-disco. While tasty - and accompanied by a typically grandiose and even cheerier rework from Full Pupp man Jarle Bruthen - it's the EP's more intense moments that really excite. "Wolf Pack" is the standout, moving as it does from wide-eyed nu-disco chugginess to psychedelic acid, over the course of nine action-packed minutes.

Starting out with the lo-slung, world music influenced indie dance of "Avalon", there's also the dirty and uber cool punk-funk antics of "Sequencias Astronomica" whereas the title track merges latin vocals with sleazy rock sensibilities and also comes with a handy instrumental version for DJ use only.

Review: Desire Records head honcho Ricardo Tobar is back but this time on Jennifer Cardini's unstoppable Correspondant; and why not right? The South American producer's penchant for classic 80s retro sensibilities of the synthpop, darkwave and EBM kind are right at home on this label given the niche its carved out in recent times. On "Red Sea", Tobar delivers something that sits somewhere between techno and early 90s goth; its tough four to the floor stomp supporting some soaring new romantic synth leads to stunning effect. "Eleven" goes all cosmic on us with soaring arpeggios and elevating analogue pads taking you direct to the stratosphere, while "Alvear" goes out all guns blazing with its grinding and resonating modulations: frantic, rapid fire 909 rhythms go off Plastikman style circa "Plastik".

Review: Sebastopol's been MIA since 2012, the year in which the electronic nomad released the sublime Hello All Stations, This Is Zero. Given the artist's mysterious behaviours, it's difficult to tell whether he (or she!) has released under any other aliases or projects. However, what we can say is that this new EP, Assassin, has just reminded us of why we dug that debut so damn much. "Assassin" itself is a little masterpiece, a tune which rides at a techno pace but that feels so much deeper and explorative than that; its warm, bubbling glow of a bassline pushes on like a pulse. Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani reworks the original into a much more sombre, glacial kind of affair, which is absolutely effective and yet still overshadowed by the original. "Manethon" bleeps its minimal slew over a fluid drum machine beat, leaving Privacy enough space to transform it into a grungier, more broken EBM sort of belter.

Review: Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant imprint is on fire at the moment and following up some brilliant releases by the likes of Vitalic, Javi Redondo and namely Israeli duo Red Axes; but now it's over to their Tel Aviv homeboy: the newcomer Uriah Klapter. As is typical of the Paris/Cologne based label of late, it's more of their trademark electro/indie noir sounds on offer here. Starting out with the the slo-mo techno pulsations of "Hashomer" (with its massive hoover like bassline sure to cause a headrush or too), there's the equally sinister and grinding "Cave" catering to the industrial edged sounds that fans of ther label have come to love. Finally "Written In The Mud" closes out the EP in jagged and angular fashion, with its off kilter beat and guitar drones working in perfect disharmony.

Review: Jennifer Cardini's Correspondent label is all about exploring the primitive, raw sounds of pure, adrenaline-fuelled techno, so this summertime compilation is something to cherish. Stepping away from the harsh realities of the dancefloor for a second, the first sounds heard are the haunting pads and dampened drums of Undo's "3,9 Grados En La Escala Richter", piling on grim focus while synths oscillate. Following, "Phantoms Are Watching Us" is Swedish producer Paresse's chance to share some fragile observations, and he does not disappoint. Offset offers "Retro Future" next, filled with understated brightness, Inigo Vontier toughens up with the hard hitting bass of "Motor" and finally Brisoki's "Sunday Morning" rolls on into the sunset with retro disco sounds and a guitar loop that just don't quit. A stunning collection.

Review: Here's a surprise Christmas present from Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant label - an expansive "best of" compilation featuring gems from the imprint's first four years. Like the label itself, the Correspndant Xmas Compilation is pleasingly varied, touching on a hatful of styles and tempos. So, we get the midtempo, disco and new wave influenced chug of Squarewave and the Mansisters, the wonky house swing of Rebolledo's classic remix of Red Axes, the revivalist Italo vibe of Nhar (the excellent "Thelema"), a dash of acid (Manpower, Careno Is LB remixing Javi Redondo) and some twisted, late night Scandolearic disco from Andre Bratten. Oh, and a great fusion of techno and post-punk attitude from Alex Smoke, whose remix of "Polina" by Agents of Time is superb.

Review: Parisian-in-Cologne Jennifer Cardini has always had immaculate taste right back to her early Kill The DJ days at Le Pulp. Here she presents her label Correspondant's third compilation and it's a daring and impressive selection of gems from acts new and established. Of the 13 jams here there are some real stunners, including Squarewave's incredible '80s horror-style slow-drone electro-throbber "Digital Punk", Chloe's bleepy electroclash sizzler "Wonky" and the utterly sinister jack-fest "Muscle Touch Ban" by Bird Of Paradise. C'est bon!
