Review: Having wowed us with his album Hektagon in '09, Kromestar is back with his Parallel Sounds EP on Cosmic Bridge - a four-track venture which kicks off with the deep tones of "Don't Make Sense", with its lolloping rhythm and atmospheric twists. "2012", highlight of the EP, is all thunderous bassline and thick, treacly sub bass pressure crackling under the weight of the track with chiming SFX and hissing atmospherics. "In 2 Minds" switches to a more minimal, stripped back soundscape with gentle bells, shimmying synths, choral element; whilst closing cut "Outer Limit (feat. Team Starfleet)" pairs movie sample with a sci-fi sensibility. Massive.

Review: Moresound brings us the powerful "Breath Control" EP on Cosmic Bridge which is all smacking kicks, scintillating synths and plenty more. "Weeda" gets the four-track offering off to a great start with thudding drums and reggae-laced vocals dominating; "Analog Steak" is a dense, synth-driven piece with growling bassline underneath. "Shtrakstep", up next, is a quirky little number with stuttering, off-key rhythms and driving beats, making for an unusual journey before "No Coke" concludes the EP with shimmying beats and a muttering vocal.

Review: A solid pairing crops up for the first release on new label Cosmic Bridge, as the hip-hop informed beats of Om Unit meet the steady dubsteppings of Kromestar. "Solar Cycle" and "Merkabah" both tread logical ground for the pair, keeping a West Coast bump present alongside the bassweight dancefloor necessities. The synths fall in a controlled fashion, immaculately produced and steady. Well worth checking and an auspicious debut release.
