Review:
Despite his already illustrious production career, Rise Of The Centaur is arguably Dexplicit's most accomplished collection of tracks to date. "The Centaur" opens in dramatic fashion with its whipcrack snares, followed by "Futurian", characterised by its punishing DMZ style bassline and vocals courtesy of Big Narstie. "Sugar Rush" meanwhile is everything its title suggests, filled with sweetened purple synth blasts, a theme continued in "Pirate Cave" whose abrasive subs are punctuated by tense strings. "Rebellion" meanwhile offers one of the EP's undisputed highpoints, contrasting its junglist rhythms and ribshaking low end with tranquil piano. The EP finishes on fine form with "Straggler", complete with rolling breakbeat and heavy bass oscillations which more than live up to Dexplicit's formidable reputation.
