Review: After breaking through with an album on Young Turks, Bullion was largely associated with cut up beats and hip-hop tempos. Now though there's a whole other world of sound at work, as the Love Me... EP explores a psychedelic, krautrock aesthetic that works with off-key drones and synth touches while the rhythm gets punched out by live drums and guitars. Meanwhile Bullion himself is singing with gusto, creating a sound that seems rooted in the 70s but drives itself ever-forward in a most interesting development for the producer. "Save Your Lubb" is an especially good example of this as less than four minutes of song culminates in the insistent 4/4 beat getting swamped with ripples of synthesised effects.
