Review: Having featured prominently in numerous DJ sets and mixes of late, the collab between Bristol based Break and South London's Survival finally gets a release on Ant TC-1's Dispatch Recordings. "Your Time Will Come" is beautiful blend of tough, percussive breaks, squawking bass and blissed out atmospherics with just a hint of a breathy vocal whispering ominously "your time has come" throughout the track. Survival then goes solo on the flipside, bringing in his trademark heavy, understated cool vibes with "Harsh Language" - a classic late night roller with a deep driving tech-y b-line and sparse SFX, simmered away to perfection.

Review: Cern teams up with Italian producer Dabs for a killer release on Ant TC-1's Dispatch Recordings. Channelling the same sentiment as the protagonist of Conrad's "Heart Of Darkness", "Oh The Horror" kicks off with mumuring metallic SFX, sci-fi synths and pelting drums and develops into a souped up slice of futuristic funk, with driving energy and enough bass to make you foam at the mouth. Dark and heavy with a menacing undercurrent, this is darkside D&B at its best and most poignant. "Back & Forth", on the other hand, is a more stripped back venture, with a tense intro, ticking percussion and a roughed up Jubei style patina.

Review: The next installment from Dispatch comes courtesy of Dabs. Going solo in entree "Subsidiary" it's all about the snapping snares, metallic, futuristic SFX and moody, murky bassline as we start; moving swiftly on, Dabs teams up with Safire in "Time Carrier" - a slice of future funk with spaced out atmospherics, warping bass and frantic percussion. Next, South London's Survival and label boss Ant TC-1 go in on the remix on Cern & Dabs' "Oh The Horror". Drawing out the tension of the intro and amplifying the bass, this one's a killer. "Stendhal" - an excellent collab with Amoss - brings the EP to a close.

Review: The cheeky vocal hooks on "Fortress VIP", the latest sonic assault from junglists DBR UK, remind us of the Reprazent classic "Brown Paper Bag". Musically, the track has little in common - it sits in the steppier end of the D&B spectrum, for starters - but in terms of atmosphere and dancefloor effect, positive comparisons can be made. The original version, also included, treads a similar path (minus the catchy MC vocal snippets), while "Carpe Diem" offers more straightforward, traditional dark D&B dancefloor thrills thanks to the use of fat breaks and nightmarish atmospherics.

"Master Funk" is no exception to this rule, so you can put it on your wish list right now. The track kicks off with firm, snapping beats, murmuring atmospherics, gentle undulating b-line and pounding sub bass. Soon the chanting vocal riff "master funk" kicks in, and rolls over the beats like a boat bobbing around on the sea. Everything about this tune just works. Highly recommended.

Review: Hybris is one of those D&B producers you can rely on to deliver the goods and this release on Dispatch is no exception. Right from the off, "Crumbled" promises to be a killer, bassline roller, punctuated by eerie SFX, thudding drum kicks and groaning sub bass. The accompanying cut, "Ender", continues the journey with a cinematic, spaced out intro paving the way for a hypnotic main part, with Rockwell style trickling beats in a sparse, subterranean soundscape. Taking things experimental pays off, as this is not one to miss out on.

Review: Time to get grimy on Dispatch, it would seem, as Hybris steps up to the fore for the first of two cuts on Ant TC-1's Dispatch Recordings. "The Blinds" sees the man like Hybris go in hard with ominous atmospherics, sharp, snapping snares and heavy kicks, full of tension and aggression. As the track progresses we go deeper inside the rabbit hole, where the soundscape is dark, Noisia-like and menacing. Safire & Borderline continue the story in the sequel, "Rebellion" which has more of an upbeat swagger, with sped up, pattering drums and gnarly bass warps. If you like your D&B dark and dirty, this one's for you - utterly superb from start to finish.

Review: The highly talented Dutch D&Bster Nymfo comes up trumps with this release on Ant TC 1's Dispatch label. "Recollection" starts with a tense, taught metallic warping synth and swiftly falls into a tough, terse stepper of epic proportions. A skewed vocal element is only hinted at, and heavily manipulated SFX add a touch of the industrial, while the bassline murmurs below like an oily pool of darkness. "Desert Heat" brings in the production talents of Cern for an outstanding venture into the unknown - watch out for the weighty sub bass pressure and pummelling drums, which drive this one along for the duration. Gnarly!
