Review:
A collective formed from latter day Digital Soundboy Benny Page, Dope Ammo and Resinate, Goldstarr bring the ruckus with this release, plus bonus track "Funkadelic" for added fun. "Crazy" pairs a winding b-line with catchy cooing vocal, "Valley Of The Shadows" esque hollow echoing sound and firm, punchy drums. "Come Out To Play" urges us to do just that with souped up bassline, high octane energy and pounding Pendulum style drums setting the pace for the duration. Bonus card "Funkadelic" adds a sultry sexiness to the proceedings and rounds things off in style.

Since launching, Dope Ammo's eponymous label has proved itself a peerless outlet for the rude and rowdy end of the drum and bass spectrum and sign off on an excellent year with this two track release from Biga Ranx and Resinate. Dope Ammo himself comes correct on a killer remix of Biga Ranx's "Badboy Comedy" deftly dropping between vast waves of jungle pressure and toasting breakdowns - real peak time business here. In contrast, Resinate opts for the screw face approach on "Universe", with stripped back drums letting the harsh mid range hook dominate.

Review:
If you like your D&B rude and rowdy then the Dope Ammo imprint should be up your street, and this release is no exception. This split single features a Dope Ammo & Benny Page remix of Biga Ranx's "Brigante Life" as well as a Dope Ammo remix of Wicked Squad feat. Lady Saw - "Hypnotic". The former is a ragga-drenched cacophony of pulsing vocals, driving beats, swaggering beats and grouchy bass which is infectiously catchy and should be a sure fire hit on the dancefloor. The latter blends the sonorous female vocal of Lady Saw with rough and ready beats, bludgeoning bass and a dancefloor driven punch.

As a celebration of their 15th anniversary, Dope Ammo release unto the world this duo of dancefloor D&B with an attitude The Bride herself would be proud of. A pure indulgence for Tarantino fans everywhere, Levela's remix of "Kill Bill" adds another dimension of attitude to an already insane track. With a drop made for destroying dancefloors and snatches of Uma Thurman threatening to kill anyone in her path, it's more than an homage, it's a perfect accompaniment to any respectable Kill Bill memorabilia collection. "Cold Rock A Party" is the flipside, remixed by jungle producer DJ Oder. With a deep groove matching nasty, sexy female vocals, the chorus drops into a frantic explosion of noise and genre mashups as jungle vibes intrude on squealing top end shreiks and writhing bass. Drop this and watch the screwfaces appear.

Two rambunctious, post-jungle remixes here which deserve a shout out from the likes of Blade Runner and Dope Ammo & Resinate. First up the former goes in on Goldstar (aka Benny Page)'s cut "Crazy", adding a '96 style intro to it; then as the tune drops it's all old skool bass groans and thunderous sub bass lurches, with fast, rattling breaks adding pace above. Accompanying this of course, is the Dope Ammo & Resinate re-lick of "Effective Styles", which is all fidgety drum rolls and gratuitous jump up mayhem.

An old favourite from the Dope Ammo back catalogue form yesteryear gets a 2012 refix on their own self-titled imprint, Dope Ammo Recordings. "Better Believe" is a pumping jump up monster with oodles of banging bass and Skibbadee-esque rude boy vocal hook. Smashed up, bashed up and given the refix treatment, this sounds bigger and badder than ever with driving bass, pounding mid range and plenty of urban attitude. The DA Firm remix is another killer cut which focuses more on the vocal with razor sharp delivery and punchy beats.

A four-pack bundle of reggae and roots referencing D&B joy from the Dope Ammo man dem. First up, the original "Roots & Culture" kicks things off with a vocal-led intro, ticking breaks and a rowdy drop. Grouchy, distorted bass bellows out with gentle drums and rollicking post-jungle thrills. G Dub go in and give it the VIP treatment next - think soaring highs and lows, pounding drums and dancefloor vibes in abundance. Serial Killaz give it another re-lick - one for the junglists. Reaperz then goes in and destroys it with obnoxious Heist style aggression and re-models the original into a jump up gem.

Review:
Back when bass was ravey and beats were breaky, Dope Ammo worked with the likes of Scratch Perverts, Kosheen, Slipmatt and Nicky Blackmarket to push hard-hitting dance music into the limelight. Soon getting a taste for production themselves, Dope Ammo Records was born in '98 and the rest, as they say, is history. These latest tracks masterminded by some of the country's jump-up pioneers are straight-up dancefloor destroyers. From the future-jungle blasts of rude club anthem "Collusion" to the old-school vocals and ethnic twists of slamming rave-driven "Say It Low", these are two tracks ready for hot summer parties. Get on board.

Take a deep breath and fasten your seatbelts as jump up dons Dope Ammo return with more fast and furious musical ammunition with the Dead Man EP on their own imprint. Driving b-lines, whomping subs and whirring synths are order of the day in "Dead Man", a collab with Oldman, whilst "World At War" kicks off with some epic, euphoric vibes and dramatic, souped up drop before falling into a classic bassline groaner with driving synths and thumping drums. "Say What Ya Think" packs a punch with feisty attitude and hammering drums.

Two killer collabs here on the latest release from Dope Ammo, exclusive to Juno Download. First up it's Dope Ammo and Tonedef whose unfeasibly banging "Rollin" is given the once over by Sub Zero - the mid section drop is particularly epic! Flip over - figuratively speaking - for Erb N Dub and Deep Roots' "Insomina", which impresses with its tough, jagged drums and undulating synths.

Dope Ammo seem to be firmly cementing themselves into the scene with their slew of releases on their own self-titled imprint. This one, inventively entitled "Militant Flow", well, does exactly what it says on the tin with some purposeful lyrics, pounding beats and grinding jump up energy. Resinate is the man with the militant flow, of course, his vocal coming in and out of focus, interspersed with the most monstrous of mid range growls and low end belches. Accompanying this is, of course, the uplifting sounds of "Positive Vibes" with its iconic reggae hook grabbing the attention it drops into a gratuitous slice of dancefloor wobble.

Coming at us fast and furious, Dope Ammo hit back with yet another release. This time it comes from the excellent Soundclash who impresses with his unique blend of ragga-jungle for the 2012 audience. Lovely lilting vibes dominate the title track "Rootsman" which brings together jungle chirrups, a booming b-line, gentle rolling breaks and a yearning vocal. Swagger and stylishness are brought together here and it really, really works. Accompanying it is a Benny Page remix of "Better Believe" which adds some funked up jump up D&B to the proceedings with mashed up lyrics and wonky mid range action to get the dancefloor going.

Review:
Producer Dope Ammo launched his eponymous label way back in 1998. It's probably about time, then, for the imprint's first label retrospective. Made up entirely of Dope Ammo productions or collaborations (some under the Drunken Masters pseudonym), it's a breezy, floor-friendly jog through the worlds of reggae-jungle and jump-up, with the odd foray into gnarly, tech-step territory. Given the vintage of some of the productions, it's no surprise that it largely sounds like a blast from the past, but there are fantastic moments - not least a clutch of collaborations with Benny Page.
