Bladerunner steps up with two bonafide bangers on Ray Keith's legendary Dread Recordings. First up are the soaring melodies and sonorous vocal hooks of "Feel For You"; swiftly falling into a moody jungle roller, this one is a dark horse, juxtaposing euphoric vocals, classic rave piano keys and dark, rolling breaks. "Time Tap" is all massive hoover bass, twinkling melodies and pulsating bass in your face for the duration. An excellent offering here from Bladerunner - junglists and bass heads alike, don't sleep on this one.

Given that it comes on Ray Keith's Dread Recordings, it comes as little surprise that Lion Fire's Dub War should provide such an enjoyably amen-heavy excursion jungle and hardcore. The title track provides high powered basslines straight out of '92, while "Counter Attack" riffs on the same theme, throwing down amen breaks like cluster bombs. "Shark Attack" meanwhile funnels screaming synths through a hail of tumbling percussive bullets, leaving "Kung Fu" to provide the EP's subtler moment, combining tense, trilling synths with intricate drums and deep, low-end bass.

Review:
Dark and intense drum & bass from Ray Keith on the legendary Penny Black label. Both the title track and "King of Fire" on the flip roll with dark and menacing breaks. The former uses ethnic vocals and echoes to add more mysticism, while the latter uses a warm bassline and rolling percussion. A more than fitting release for such an esteemed label.

Review:
As one of jungle's originals, there was a time when Ray Keith was one of the heaviest hitters in the drum and bass scene. These days, his star has waned a little and is known more as Joy Orbison's uncle, but he still retains the ability to rock a dancefloor. For those of a certain vintage, I Am Renegade - his first new album in three years - should be a bit of a treat. Devoid of contemporary thrills - bar a trip into deeper territory in the shape of "Stardust" - it recycles the amen-heavy brand of hard-hitting jungle and hardcore with which Keith made his name during the 1990s. As such, it's a thrilling blast from the past.

Review:
Ray Keith, legendary jungle DJ / producer and owner of the infamous Dread Recordings, makes a comeback and the I Am Renegade Sampler says it all with some 21st century jungle music to please the ravers while giving the contemporary scene a sprinkle of the old skool. "Monster" gets the party started with its bass warping, ticking breaks and iconic rave vocal and stabs, before "I See The Future" takes over with its progressive sweeping atmospherics and bass lurches. "Galaxian Warrior" goes a bit more dancefloor orientated with wobbles, rattling drums and plenty of punch, and then "Tronik" re-works a recognizable vocal and twists it up with that Ray Keith dexterity.

Review:
Evergreen Ray Keith continues to pump out the hits in his fearless, floor-friendly junglist style. This fresh, digital-only album features a range of his own dubplates - previously unreleased cuts that he's been spinning on and off for Lord knows how long. There are few surprises - by now, we should all know what his vntage, Amen-sporting old skool style sounds like - but plenty of confirmed bangers, from the breakbeat hardcore rinse-out of "Chopper" and pleasing vocal cut "Midnight", to the intense rhythms of bombastic closer "Visual Attack".

Review:
Following the first collection of digital dubplates and VIPs from veteran producer Ray Keith's seemingly bottomless archives, Dread Recordings returns with another bumper selection of tracks from the vault. His vintage junglist style sounds as fresh as it always has, with highlights including the early liquid offerings of "Rare Groove", the syncopated sub action of "Too Strong", the savage jungle bass and subtle Detroit-style pads of "Unorthadox", and the rave-inspired madness that is closing track "Wobbler". Quite simply, they don't make 'em like this any more.

Review:
Original breakbeat DJ and one of the founding fathers of drum and bass, Ray Keith's part in the early days of the scene can't be overstated. Match the man himself with Tenor Fly, one of the most distinctive voices in breakbeat and drum and bass and you've got a recipe for some seriously baking riddims. Renegade Live is Keith's dream - a fully live jungle setup that brings energy and soul back to those dark rooms filled with bass and nodding heads. Potentially the hottest ticket for the forthcoming festival season, Bladerunner's dub remix packs some serious punch, adding after dark attitude and ghostly keys. Hotly tipped for this summer, all eyes on Renegade - don't sleep.

Review:
Serum steps up for a seriously bass-heavy release on Ray Keith's infamous Dread Recordings. It's deadly by name, deadly by nature in the title track, as a tense, trembling string section in the intro gives way to an iconic vocal sample, and then the tune drops into a sub bass booming fray with gently ticking breaks and a deadening sense of foreboding. Accompanying this is "Prototype" with its menacing snares, eerie SFX and punishing bass wobbles, it's a track for the true D+B soldier. Approach with caution!

Review:
Following hot on the heels of the first EP, "Serum On Dread" Part 2 makes a glossy appearance on the virtual shelves of Ray Keith's legendary Dread Recordings. Serum is a staunch favourite of the jungle revivalists and here "Ammo Dump" gets things started with a shimmy of whirring bass, crunchy breaks and menacing lyrics, appearing again as an "alternative mix" later, before "Only A Dream" takes over with its bouncy punches, churning SFX and rolling riddims. "Dub A Dread (VIP mix)" is a classic rave horn, jungle tootin' classic with pattering breaks and raucous SFX in a Serial Killaz style, while "Shaolin" is a bonafide bassline rumbler.

Review:
You can always rely on Serum to bring the original jungle flavours. This splendid five track EP kicks off with "Dub Dread" - a deep, dubbed out cut with Rasta-riled riddims and crisp, crunchy drum rolls a-plenty. "Computerised" pairs futuristic swooping SFX with ragga vocal snippets for a more interesting ride into the wilderness, with eerie synth lines and booming bass. Up next, we have Serum on VIP duties for "Girls Dem Want It" - a swooning intro falls into a classic roller, with echoing vocals and heavy subs, before "Sing Time" kicks in with its rattling breaks and hollow soundscape and "Special Technique" finishes things up with a flourish of grouchy bass weight.

Review:
UFO releases an epic 15-track album on Ray Keith's legendary Dread imprint. Taking it right back to '94 (in spirit at least), it's needless to say that rattling old skool Amen breaks and dark, creaky basslines are the order of the day here, with a good dose of dark, grimey goodness to boot. Of course, there are plenty of other influences creeping in along the way, from technoid opener "Techno Funk" through "303 Mayhem" with its sci-fi SFX, to the slo-mo sultriness of "Da Funk Fang", ALL OF which add an extra dimension to the release, but overall this is one for the heads!
