Review:
In case a new Daft Punk album isn't quite enough for you this month, along come their pals Justice with a fantastic live set recorded in 2012 in the Nimes Arena. It's difficult to capture the excitement in these recordings, but they've nailed the balance of performance and crowd participation to perfection. Just listen to the reaction to the mix of Simian's "We Are Your Friends" and "Waters Of Nazareth" and you'll be tingling from head to toe. What a month it is to be a fan of great French dance music!

Review:
Henry Riton's last release was the co-incidentally-titled Dark Place, which came out shortly after the tragic death of his Carte Blanche partner, DJ Medhi in 2011.Having understandably kept a low profile since then, he's now back with this powerful new release on Ed Banger. "Bang Your Head" is a hysterical, anthemic acid freak-out, "Dance To The Great Golfball In The Sky", is a glammy electro-house stomper, and "Lost My Mind" is, surprisingly, a total ghetto hip-hop curveball that's echoed on EP closer, "Girls In The Hood" - a deep and heavy bass-led grinder boasting a cameo from French Electroclash chanteuse Miss Kittin. Good to have him back!

More than 18 months after their Audio, Video, Disco LP dropped, Justice's "Helix" finally gets a single release. It's a typical chunk of goodtime disco-stomp, like Daft Punk without the filter-heavy swing, or Cassius trying to rave in ill-fitting straightjackets. Remix-wise, Gesafellstein turns it into a crunchy electro banger - all heavy drum programming, cut-up yelps and murky riffs - while Parisian veteran Domenico Torti (once Dimitri From Paris's go-to "edit guy") cuts it up impressively, adding a dose of fuzzy funk to proceedings. For the heads, there are also two more downtempo bonus cuts, of which the effortlessly sweet "Ohio" is the pick.

Review:
With a remix debut on Sound Pellegrino and a solo debut on Ed Banger, Parisian artist Boston is quite the hot tip right now. Taking the acid house and Chicago warehouse vibes of yore (think Pierre, Hardy, Green Velvet) and adding that French touch, there's something both retro and forward looking about this trio of tracks. "Closer" is the quirkiest of the pair with the strange crackles and warping on the cowbells and sleazy-assed groove. "Urnmae" is more of a nod to Mr Fingers, but done with a prog-like glow that wouldn't have gone amiss in a Sasha & Digweed set back in the proverbial. Last but not least, the title track "House Call" is a serious jack-attack. Keep listening...

Review:
With the Ed Banger heroes in fully engaged soft rock mode for their second album Audio Video Disco, this week's single release of "New Lands" and its accompanying remixes marks a nice opportunity to hear a bit more spice from French duo. The duo drop a new "Live" edit of their own, extending the intro for maximum build, while Falcon provides a very pleasing and subtle nu-disco rerub that's full of hypnotically looped vocals, while A-Trak goes the other way and crafts a house/moombahton hybrid out of the original. Trust Sebastian to deliver though - using minimal claps and almost R&B-like synth chimes to make a mean half-stepper out of "New Lands".

Review:
Beardy French synth noodler Breakbot seems to enjoy working with vocalist Irfane. To date, many of his best moments have featured the sometimes Outlines man. "One Out Of Two" is another strong single from the pair. Like previous outings, it accurately apes the vintage blue-eyed soul of Boz Scaggs, Hall & Oates and Michael McDonald. Oliver provides the best remix, a slick tweak that turns the original into '80s synth-soul gold. More notable for dancefloors, perhaps, are the two typically percussive reworks from DJ Sneak. The Dub, in particular, is seriously heavy, even if it does contain very few elements from Breakbot's original.
