Emerald & Doreen are an eccentric German collective (the name is something to do with street slang for extremely glamorous women, or so they claim), all dedicated to the more stylish end of nu-disco. Here they give a long player from Diligo, which also includes a few cheeky remixes too. There are 14 tracks in which the listener can get lost and they cover the gambit of quality electro-disco. Our faves include the melancholic Italo electro-pop of "Life Straps" and its punchier, lushed-out rework by Ullapul and the David August-style evocative smooch-house of "Love My World". Classy!
According to their Soundcloud profile, FLXXX are Ands Mega & Montessori from Puebla, Mexico. It's a project created by two young friends who share ideas and tastes within the concept of music and parties. They've previously offered up stuff on the likes of Nein Records, Play Pal Music and Wonder Stories and deliver this sweet new one for German imprint Emerald & Doreen. "Funeral" is a serving of slow burning and gutsy EBM attitude with some stylish vintage arpeggios, rusty beats and delay drenched post punk vocals. There's a couple of great remixes too: Alda's rendition stays on with the same aesthetic but replaces the preset with a dirty synth bass and some slamming Linn drums. The LosBikini remix is definitely the most dancefloor effective; this cosmic/Italo influenced synth journey is a wild one indeed!
