Review: A seven-piece project from Leeds, Submotion Orchestra offer a live take on the sounds of post-dubstep, and "Always" is the second single to be taken from their debut album Finest Hour, released on Exceptional this summer. Incorporating the kind of shuffling, unpredictable rhythms and lush keys that could be mistaken for a Floating Points production, soulful vocals and a driving sense of groove, "Always" is the kind of track that could easily get dancefloors moving or soundtrack the post club wind-down. Remixes come from Laxx and Synkro; Laxx transforms the original into a dub-reggae influenced jam with some serious low end, and Synkro offers the best version, turning it into a sublime garage infused broken-beat number, and taking the vocals into Burial territory with some masterful pitchshifting.

Review: London via Leeds seven-piece outfit, Submotion Orchestra have been the talk of both towns and beyond recently, turning heads with their unique and refreshing take on electronica, bringing together elements of soul, ambient, dub, dubstep and jazz in their exceptional productions. This next release, "It's Not Me, It's You" provides a taster from their forthcoming album and is utterly sublime from start to finish. The intro is all sonorous vocal and scattered synth lines and gently the track progresses into a deep, ambient main part with guitar strumming, enticing looping beats and soft, textured atmospherics. The vocal comes in and out of focus with a beautiful trumpet twisting things up around the halfway point, adding a good dose of jazz to the proceedings. This is a must buy from music fans from across the spectrum.
