Review:
Is 90s tech-house back on the musical agenda!? Listening to Tattle Tale Nightlife, it would appear that this is the case. The title track is based on dense, tribal drums, but also features an uplifting 'well, well, well' vocal refrain. Like the producers a decade ago who tried to capture the acid house spirit, Android Cartel is striving for the same feeling. This approach is also audible on "Tattle Tale"; although more tracky, its insistent rhythm is augmented by the kind of whooshing filter sounds that were a staple on labels like Swag. "To The Rescue" reiterates this approach, with soulful vocals and dense drums providing the perfect balance between functionality and soul.

Review:
With little or no information about the producer or release, it's hard to give this summery two-tracker context. That said, it certainly delivers on the title's promise, offering two piping hot slices of Latino house for outdoor parties and sweltering basements. Both "Pina Latina" and "Piana Man" have echoes of some of Masters At Work's more Puerto Rico-inspired efforts, or the delicious Latin Balearic house of early A Man Called Adam. Both also offer a pleasing blend of old skool house riffery, layered South American percussion and Balearic spirit - something which most straight-up deep or tech house lacks.

Review:
Payne may not be breaking too many rules, but on Dirty Birds he proves that he knows how to make expertly crafted and imaginative DJ tools. "Dirty Birds Fly" sees Payne bring some more breadth to his sound with insistent chords and a subtle sample of Nina Simone added to the mix. "Choose One" also sees him provide some surprises, including a series of subsonic blips and a reggae vocal. However, first prize goes to remixer London Electric Orchestra for their take on "Choose One". Over garage beats, the original reggae vocal sample is used to its fullest potential, turning into a hypnotic narrative that lends the arrangement a plaintive edge.
