Review:
Carrying on the good work from his recent Main Attractions EP, Andy H eschews hip-hop on this new release for First Word and instead loads up on jungle and early hardcore influences. One for fans of Shy FX, Warrior One and Redlight, this is a pure ruff and tuff stuff!

Review:
Leeds' Afrobeat heroes, Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra came together a few years ago over a shared love of Fela Kuti, James Brown and Tony Allen and have quickly built up an enthusiastic following. This two-track single gives a good indication of what to expect from their celebrated live shows. "Future Ancestors" displays some pretty tight guitar and bass work that serves as a backbone for some freeform jazz and brass stylings. "Get On The Floor" is pure funk, with 60s organ meeting 70s riffage for some dancefloor magic.

Review:
Hoorah! The much anticipated debut album from Leeds' Afrobeat heroes, Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra, has finally arrived. To the previously uninitiated recent teaser single, Future Ancestors, revealed influences ranging from Fela Kuti, to James Brown and Tony Allen. Here are seven more remarkably accomplished tracks including the dub-rock "Old Ground", the jazzy, piano-led "Blood In The Water", the intense blaxsploitation-riffage of "Turncoat" and the wah-wah and Hammond-fest of the title track.

Review:
British producer Debian Blak comes through with a tantalising brace of smart tunes on this debut EP for the First Word label. "TISW" is on a stark and seedy Burial tip, while "Something Different Something Smaller" is a deliciously wonky and smoky delight that takes from hip-hop and boogie yet sounds totally unique. James Blake fans will certainly enjoy "Leave Me Alone" - indeed anyone who enjoys a more soulful approach to dubstep should make a beeline for this EP.

Review:
A debut for the folk at First World Records, producer Matt Brewer aka Frameworks drops some superbly laidback vocal jazz and chilled nu-jazz in the form of the sweeping "Vanish" and the Isaac Hayes-like "Somehow" (both featuring vocalist Sabira Jade), while "Rotterdam" mixes more upbeat brass samples with some deep and mellow keys.
