Review: Tiombe Lockheart's futuristic funk under his Cubic Zirconia alias sounds better than ever on this new single for Fool's Gold. Mixing together the most unlikely of influences, it melts Latin sway with jazz drumming, epic, proggy synth solos and softly sung vocals. Equal parts Blue Note and Eglo, it's a really intriguing single, available with a hugely useful acapella and instrumental. Electro heads might want to head straight for Dutch master Bart Bmore's rather huge remix, which has already been given spins by Annie Mac amongst others.

Review: Fifteenth are Brooklyn DJs Sammy Bananas and Thee Mike B, and on this, their debut release for A-Trak's Fools Gold imprint as a duo, they channel the spirit of Paradise Garage disco through the lens of contemporary electro to create party jams that feel like they would be equally at home in a warehouse as they would in a murky basement. "Tomorrow" is a slice of filter driven funk with a futuristic sheen that recalls Discovery era Daft Punk, complete with shameless guitar solo, whilst "My Fantasy (Part Deux)" utilises the same springy bass with a more furiously paced loop driven aesthetic. Finally, "Hollywood, NY" combines a hazy atmosphere with a laid back bass guitar groove which sounds like a lost 70s movie soundtrack gem.

Review: Big look for UK duo Greenmoney with a debut EP for A Trak's label Fools Gold backed with some killer remix action. The West London duo have been responsible for some killer UK funky inflected remixes over the past two years and the Gold Ru$h EP sees them drop some original material with a little vocal help. East London's Mz Brattz meacingly spits out over dubbed sirens, growling bass and a stepping rhythm on "Who's Greenmoney?" Lady Chann's machine gun chatter peppers "Political Hype" with brilliance (A Trak's been hammering this one) and "Suh Mi Stay" melds Serocee's infectious toasting with a burbling bassline and superlative synth stabs. Rising star Mele drops a tropical step rerub of "Who's Greenmoney?" with some evil bass stabs. Karizma steals the healines though, with an epic remix of "Suh Mi Stay", the Baltimore legend neatly edits in the Think break over a rolling percussive rhythm, adding some stereo vocal dubs and submerges a replayed, edited synth melody in the depths of the mix, only to let it rise and take over.

Review: Canadian electro heavy-hitters Jokers of The Scene drop their fifth release on Fools Gold, and it might just be their best work to date. The tear-stained, long-building Vangelis-ness of opener "Killing Jokes I" is worth the price of admission alone, but when the beats kick in - as on the charging Italo-swirl of "Black Mountie" or the chugging "In Order To Trance" - they show off skills deeper, more polished and more widescreen than even their excellent prior EPs and remixes has only hinted at. Plus, they sample god-like experimental composer Karlheinz Stockhausen's voice on "Organized Zounds" - really, what more do you want?

Review: Following up on the cheap thrills of their Fools Gold debut "Bare Knuckle", UK duo Kid Gloves are back with the lowdown and dirty "Music Power". Rocking a deeply distorted bassline, the duo build layer upon layer of glitched-out goodness over the top making for a slinky yet scattergun electro heater. D1's mix is the one to head for if hard, jacking bassiness is your bag - speeding up the groove and adding footwerk claps and toms over a menacing bed of darkside synths. Review: Kid Sister has been quiet since her long awaited debut album Ultraviolet arrived in 2009, but now she returns with Kiss & Tell, which serves as a taster of her next long player, with a raft of producers helping . "Mickey" announces her return with a bang, with her trademark flow fused with Nadastrom's rave sirens, lasers and synth stabs, whilst "Hide & Seek" is a sleazier hip-hop number with Sinden and 5kin&Bone5 on production duties. "Cliq Claq" meanwhile is brought to life by hip-hop legend Scoop Deville, whose minimal percussive rhythms add a deceptive amount of depth to the track. The undoubted highlight however is the Miami bass influenced "Gucci Rag Top", which combines a booty shaking bassline with scratch samples and sharp snares. Of course it's Kid Sister's unique personality and style that really shines through on this EP, a fine taster of what looks set to be a great second album.

Review: New from A Trak and Nick Catchdubs' Fools Gold label, Trevor Lovey's Lil Bo Peep alias returns, following up his "The B4U Know It" EP with three excellent slices of floor-humping electro goodness. Title tune "Snap Crackle N Pop" carries a touch of Human Resource's "Dominator" in its sliding synths, while "Lost And Found" chops up a tight disco sample and layers all manner of freaky synth and bass work around it to produce a dynamite slice of perky fun. By contrast, "The Beat Goes" goes rough and rugged with a bluesy vocal sample and some tough kicks.
