Zinc and A-Trak's transatlantic collabo connection picks up where "Stingray" left us with this firing piece of no-nonsense euphoric grit. Natalie Storm's vocals hog most of the spotlight. A dancehall diva with crisp delivery and just a smidgeon of raunchy undertone, she drives the floor into oblivion as the levels peak beneath. Remix-wise it's satisfaction central as we're smashed to pieces by Shadow Child (woozy breakbeats with a heavy dose of sub), Dismantle (boshing, full-paced electro stomp) and JWLS (D&B/half-step madness).

Review:
The second age of DJ Zinc's heroic career continues. Having been a pivotal figure in the rise of D&B around the world, his conversion to slower house/bass/breaks tempos has served him just as well as both a DJ and producer, as evidenced by this new collab with superstar electro-turntablist A Trak for this release on Fools Gold. With faint touches of his seminal "128 Trek" drum pattern on "Stingray", Zinc and A Trak steer this new banger through some sub-aquatic bleeps and sirens while Benga steps up with a trademark dread 'n' half-step beauty that nicely vamps around the original.

Halloween may have passed, but there's still potential to scare the bejesus out of your floor with this devilish trap attack from the blogger's current fave Carnage. Confidently slow beats swagger and the bass and haunting overtones combine for a thick sonic soup of dark, edgy funk. "Kat!e" follows, and with it some serious club attitude from Kat!e herself; sleazy aggression drips from each lyric she spits, this is as dirty as you can possibly get with your clothes on.

Italian super producers Phra and Bot make a return to Fool's Gold with a mighty trio of tracks and a dedication to everyone's favourite Nintendo baddy. "Trillex" is a very interesting lead cut; taking the high-end riffage they've made a name for themselves with and adding a twinkle-toed hook you'd expect to hear on an Orbital record, it's unlike anything else they've ever done. "Bowser" meanwhile is more your tropical fare. Deep, dark and rolling like a sped-up moombahton record, it's yet another interesting departure. "Turn The Lights" completes the set with some fresh lyrical vibes from STS. Crank the dial up to sleaze o'clock, it's the party piece we've been expecting from them for years.

Taken from last year's album Follow Your Heart comes this sprightly sing-along disco number. Loaded with an 8-bit impression of a P-funk bassline and some rather fly synth work it's an instant party - as are the remixes on offer from Tommy Trash and Tony Senghore. Tommy goes for an all-out electro shock-out that spits and whistles its spiky charm effortlessly. Tony, meanwhile, goes knees deep with two cuts. Be aware that while his "Trashy 3am" remix starts rather deep and subdued, it does eventually lead to a disgustingly disorienting take that should really raise eyebrows, hairs, hands, wigs and indeed roofs. In fact his "Deep" remix isn't particular deep either; think big. And bleepy. An instrumental and an acapella complete the set. Nice.

Tiombe Lockheart's futuristic funk under his Cubic Zirconia alias sounds better than ever on this new single for Fool's Gold. Mixing together the most unlikely of influences, it melts Latin sway with jazz drumming, epic, proggy synth solos and softly sung vocals. Equal parts Blue Note and Eglo, it's a really intriguing single, available with a hugely useful acapella and instrumental. Electro heads might want to head straight for Dutch master Bart Bmore's rather huge remix, which has already been given spins by Annie Mac amongst others.

Fifteenth are Brooklyn DJs Sammy Bananas and Thee Mike B, and on this, their debut release for A-Trak's Fools Gold imprint as a duo, they channel the spirit of Paradise Garage disco through the lens of contemporary electro to create party jams that feel like they would be equally at home in a warehouse as they would in a murky basement. "Tomorrow" is a slice of filter driven funk with a futuristic sheen that recalls Discovery era Daft Punk, complete with shameless guitar solo, whilst "My Fantasy (Part Deux)" utilises the same springy bass with a more furiously paced loop driven aesthetic. Finally, "Hollywood, NY" combines a hazy atmosphere with a laid back bass guitar groove which sounds like a lost 70s movie soundtrack gem.

Previously found skulking around local label Fjordin punting out his snub-nosed electro, Norway's Funkin Mat has just upgraded to business class with a high profile release on A-Trak's Fools Gold. It's not hard to see why the Duck Sauce dude signed this; "I Wish" grunts and shunts with the distorted grace of an early Proxy joint while "Rasp" sparkles with a vibrant Justice-level synth hook and some very sexy squelches in the bass department. Funkin brilliant.

Review:
Big look for UK duo Greenmoney with a debut EP for A Trak's label Fools Gold backed with some killer remix action. The West London duo have been responsible for some killer UK funky inflected remixes over the past two years and the Gold Ru$h EP sees them drop some original material with a little vocal help. East London's Mz Brattz meacingly spits out over dubbed sirens, growling bass and a stepping rhythm on "Who's Greenmoney?" Lady Chann's machine gun chatter peppers "Political Hype" with brilliance (A Trak's been hammering this one) and "Suh Mi Stay" melds Serocee's infectious toasting with a burbling bassline and superlative synth stabs. Rising star Mele drops a tropical step rerub of "Who's Greenmoney?" with some evil bass stabs. Karizma steals the healines though, with an epic remix of "Suh Mi Stay", the Baltimore legend neatly edits in the Think break over a rolling percussive rhythm, adding some stereo vocal dubs and submerges a replayed, edited synth melody in the depths of the mix, only to let it rise and take over.

A one-off release, taken from the Canadian electro duo's excellent J0T5 EP from earlier this year, sees St Mandrew tear apart the Italo grooves of the original with a devastating revisit. Anyone familiar with Mandrew's collaborations with MSTRKRFT's JFK will know what to expect - bubbling bass, fast electro-glitch textures and some heart-racing drum sequencing are all on show on this A-Trak championed mix.

Canadian electro heavy-hitters Jokers of The Scene drop their fifth release on Fools Gold, and it might just be their best work to date. The tear-stained, long-building Vangelis-ness of opener "Killing Jokes I" is worth the price of admission alone, but when the beats kick in - as on the charging Italo-swirl of "Black Mountie" or the chugging "In Order To Trance" - they show off skills deeper, more polished and more widescreen than even their excellent prior EPs and remixes has only hinted at. Plus, they sample god-like experimental composer Karlheinz Stockhausen's voice on "Organized Zounds" - really, what more do you want?

Canadian electro titans Jokers Of The Scene just can't stop weaving their magic at the moment. "Revolting Joks" might well be the duo's best yet - a huge monster of a tune with eerie Hammer horror piano chords giving way to a filthy bass that sounds like it's going to leap out of your headphones and strangle you. Having only just remixed ?The Keep? for Boy 8-Bit, JOKS get the return treatment here - a giddy and minimalist tune with slow but sure progression and a rolling beat that's truly unique. Great work here all round.

Following up on the cheap thrills of their Fools Gold debut "Bare Knuckle", UK duo Kid Gloves are back with the lowdown and dirty "Music Power". Rocking a deeply distorted bassline, the duo build layer upon layer of glitched-out goodness over the top making for a slinky yet scattergun electro heater. D1's mix is the one to head for if hard, jacking bassiness is your bag - speeding up the groove and adding footwerk claps and toms over a menacing bed of darkside synths. The cut 'n' paste disco funk of "Below The Belt" also gets a look in on the release, backed up by Golden Bug's nu-disco rerub.
