Review: Spain's Galaktika imprint can usually be relied upon to deliver cutting edge deep and tech house with a suitably cosmic feel, and this three-tracker from David Durango is no exception. There's a definite intergalactic vibe to the spiraling uptempo riffs, extended breakdowns and shuffling rhythms of "Secret Drone", while the deep, melodic bump of "Tundra" comes on like the unlikely soundtrack to a late night astronomy session down Greenwich Observatory. A gently undulating EP concludes with Paulo Olarte's take on "Secret Drone", a woozy, deeper interpretation that should tickle the tastebuds of anyone who likes their deep house heady and intoxicating.

Review: Himan is still relatively unheralded in deep house circles, but continues to quietly impress with releases that tick all the right boxes. "24th Street" does the same. While it features some incredibly big elements - bold pianos, darting synth-strings and "Blackwater"-esque percussion - it doesn't sound forced, anthemic or over-the-top. It's actually quite laidback, despite boasting essential dancefloor elements. Those who enjoy their deep house sun-blushed should check the This Is Time Is Disco version, which is so organic and laidback it's almost horizontal. Bonus cut "My Jazzy Track" is nice, too - like a noughties update of the jazz/deep house fusions of St Germain circa "Boulevard".

Review: While previous instalments of Galaktika's Action Series have floated around the margins of tech-house, this third volume is honest-to-goodness deep house. Sure, it's heavily electronic and seems to casually tumble from the speakers, but it's definitely deep house. This time round, it's James Teej and Matthias Mesteno at the controls, dropping a pair of unassuming but pleasantly sunner groovers. Choose between the bubbling sunshine deepness of "The Edge" and "Grinder", a hypnotic and slightly wonky late night head-nodder that wanders more towards techno territory. It's still deep, but comes backed with the metronomic pulse and never-ending drums that marks out the best late night fare.

Review: Barcelona-based Galaktika Records has never been one of Europe's most revered imprints, but its releases are rarely anything less than solid. Since setting up shop five years ago, the label has released some real gems, as well as lots of good quality tackle from up and coming artists. This epic compilation - some 28 unmixed, full-length tracks, plus two CD-length DJ mixes - presents some of the label's best works, perfectly showcasing its slow-burning approach to deep house and tech-house. If you've yet to check the label, this is the perfect place to start - particularly as it features such brilliantly named groovers as "The Rebellion Of The Tucans" and "Stairway To Cheese".
