Review:
GAMM welcome a new face into the fold in the shape of Stockholm's Seegweed, who aptly demonstrates his panache for the edit on some classic jams. First up, Seegweed drops a subtle take on Angela Bofill's Stylistics cover, clearly not wanting to mess with a classic like "People Make The World Go Round". Deft percussive touches and some bottom end embellishment are added to the core which takes full effect on the midpoint break. Up next, the jazz funk break delight of Ben Sidran's "About Love" gets the subtle Seegweed treatment, and he does a neat job of extending out the sweetness that is Sly & The Family Stone's "Family Affair".

Review:
Two more killer soul edits on Gamm from DJ Asparagus, who takes another pair of smooth classics and builds them up for the floor. The title track is a subtle but effective edit of Bobby Cauldwell's "Open Your Eyes", which has plenty of piano-driven good-times soul bursting out - perfect for last-tune revelry. Meanwhile "100 Ways" is another skilful treatment of the James Ingram song of the same name - a must-have for Yacht Rock aficionados

Review:
DJ/producer duo Troo Luv and Charlie Loud aka Heartbreak Sound have a great knack of re energising hip-hop acapellas and dropping some of the finest mash-up material out there at the moment. This latest release on GAMM is an essential purchase which comes in four pieces - with D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar" given a slow, nu-Philly groove, Jeru Tha Damaja's late-period hit "El Presidente" treated to a thematically-correct Cuban remake, Mos Def's "Ms Fat Booty" redone with a new, DJ Spinna-esque set of beats, and Common's classic "The Light" given a gritty make-over.

Review:
The latest in a string of excellent GAMM releases, Swedish edit/remix maestro Jazzy Jens has a ball with The Undisputed Truth's progressive early-70s soul classic "Smiling Faces Sometimes" on "Undisputed". Speeding it up a little and adding just the right amount of extra percussion and delay to certain vocal phrases, he keeps the original's vibe nicely in tact whilst also making it a DJ's delight. Backing "Undisputed" is "Guarapera", a nicely arranged romp through some vintage Latin rumba and modest disco beats.

Review:
This isn't one for po-faced miserablists. For starters, it features a suitably anthemic deep house remix of U2's jangly stadium rock anthem "With Or Without You". Koko's version is actually very tastefully done, and gets extra marks as it would no doubt irritate the hell out of Bono. The other rework is no less incendiary, turning Lisa Stansfield's rave-era pop-house classic "People Hold On" into a touchy-feely late night house bumper. Once again it's tastefully done, lacing the Rochdale chanteuse's landmark vocal (complete with its late 80s socio-political message) over a faithfully warehouse-friendly groove. Obvious? Maybe, but you know both will do the business on the dancefloor.

Review:
Back after a very long absence from the GAMM label, edit king and remix connoisseur Red Astaire drops a pair of originals and a couple of rejigs on this splendid EP. Rocking an "Organ Donor"-esque pattern, title tune "The Russian" makes use of a wide-trawl of samples while "Make It Sexy Baby" piles on the hip-hop flavour thanks to some fatback, head-nodding drums. Black Moon's "How Many MCs" also gets a classy, funk-filled rejig while Bob Marley's "Chances Are" is given a dubby extension to round off this excellent return.

Two new excursions in funk from the excellent Gamm label, who drop Reviva Alias Estephe & Vulzor's epic reworking of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" on this split single this week. Cleverly using outtakes, instrumental versions and accapellas of the original, the team craft a fresh remake - and an absolutely huge break down and build half way in too. "Dreaming On The Riviera" is another fine edit job, making for a breezy disco-funk jam that DJs will be pining for after just a few bars.

Review:
Meistro, Deep Sang and DJ Stylus make up the Sol Power All-Stars, a DJ/production collective from Washington DC dedicated to the many styles of African dance music. Here, they make their debut on GAMM with an excellent collection of sneaky afro-centric re-rubs. "Catch Monkey", the lead cut, offers a punchy, floor-friendly take on an Afrobeat classic. There's also a thrillingly dubbed-out, dancefloor friendly take (The "2AM Dub") that's almost an improvement on the excellent vocal original. "Let Yourself Go", meanwhile, expertly teases out a formidably percussive groove from a 1980s Afro-funk jam - all rousing horns and fluid synths. Closer "Taxi Driver", meanwhile, is a joyously celebratory juju jam. Quality stuff.

Review:
Prime stable of classic edits, G.A.M.M serve up a little gem here with Italian stalwart DJ Suonho taking to both the George Benson and War versions of "The World Is A Ghetto". You can often tell a good re-editor by how subtle their touches are, and the approach has definitely been soft and tender on the Benson version. The smoothness of the original remains, with just a steady beat working away behind it. The groove comes in a touch more explicit on War's version, as the kick thumps heavy and bumps at the end of the bar with just the right amount of flair.

Two new slices of disco edit heaven from Swedish remix king Beatconductor, courtesy of the GAMM label. Herbie Hancock's fusion disco epic "Saturday Night" gets rejigged with a DJ-friendly, Salsoul-style drum intro before launching into its samba-soul main section, while Afro-Cuban jazz king Mongo Santamaria has his piano-led gem "Espiritu Libre" again remixed with a percussive intro built in to allow for perfect mixing.

Review:
It's a mark of the quality of Mad Mats' A&R skills that GAMM has managed to notch up almost a decade of releases without really resorting to releasing the sort of stinky cheese that usually plagues bootleg and mash-up imprints. This EP from newcomers The Reflex continues that record, offering two excellent, funk-laden bangers that get just the right balance between anthemic pomp and heads-down stomp. First up is "ABC", a stretched-out re-take of The Jackson 5's most famous hit that boasts a completely different (but very good) musical backing. "I Feel Good" is even better, turning a loose funk classic into a tight dancefloor bumper thanks to snappy new beats.

Review:
A destination label for fans of classy disco and funk edits, GAMM introduce The Reflex to their roster with these new additions to their "ReVisions" series. Marvin Gaye's "Ain't No Mountain" gets a subtle boost to the beats and bottom end, while on a similar Northern Soul vibe, The Reflex treats "Rehab" with a new set of drums and a few added strings and stiff guitar chanks. Best of all, the beatless instrumental of Marvin's seminal "What's Going On" is reconnected with the original acapella in a superbly tasteful mixdown that shows off every nuance of that incredible recording.

Review:
Gamm is an established re-edit and mash-up label that's managed to repeatedly dig up new-old gems since the early Noughties. Having previously tackled Marvin Gaye's back catalogue, The Reflex return with a new EP and this time they've gone Stevie Wonder crazy; providing re-workings of three of the great man's tunes. First up is "I Wish", a nine minute elaboration of the one people think is called 'Sneakin' Out The Back Door...' and one which does a lot to reverse the damage done by Will Smith on his "Wild Wild West" tune. "Higher Ground" is teased out and into a more DJ-friendly format and finally things on high with "Sir Duke" (the one everyone thinks is called 'You Can Feel It All Over'), which gets embellished with a subtle 4/4 beat and big, splashy and celebratory cymbals.

Review:
Four party-shaped edits from the always-reliable Gamm label, this time by DJ Will Rock who tweaks the smoky soul of Moses Dillard's "Got To Find A Way" into a canny nu-funk block-rocker and blends Ripple's classic b-boy anthem "A Funky Song" with a late-period Pete Rock beat on "Sure Is Funky". Best of the bunch is the weaving of Busta Rhymes' vocals over the JBs water-tight funk on "Ass On Fire".

Review:
Years after Double Dee and Steinski were "Feelin' James", this new collection on Gamm sees a host of top producers and DJ's "Doin' James". Containing 13 fantastic reworkings of the Godfathers' greatest moments - mostly from his late 60s/early 70s heyday - Bloodfire, The Geisha Boys, Pure P and more collectively get on the good foot in tribute to one of dance music's totemic figures. DJ Ayres' Bmore-esque rearrangement of "Give It Up And Turn It Loose" uses claps to brilliant effect, while Swing Session do a brilliant job of reinterpreting Bobby Byrd's timeless "I Know You Got Soul" on the driving fury of "U Got Soul". Pure P's Dilla-esque take on some of the most sampled beats ever - JB's "Funky President" - is yet another reason to get up, get into it and get involved.

Review:
For the second time, Swedish edit maestro Seegweed blesses GAMM with a set of extremely tasteful extensions. The key to being a cool edit pro is in the selections, and Seegweed smashes it with Willie "Brothers' Gonna Work It Out" Hutch and his hitherto obscure "Slick", which comes chock full of warm, early 70s Blaxploitation motifs. The more raw and Latin-flavoured "Lo Que Dice El Abacu" by Los Munequitos De Matanzas also gets a DJ friendly intro, while Lou Bond's sorrowful and beautiful "To The Establishment" is simply stunning and sounds even better given Seegweed's double-tempo treatment.
