Review:
Get Darker have excelled themselves this year with releases: each one exciting, varied and full of surprises. Following DJG's emotional sub-trip comes another label debutant Distance. One of dubstep's most longstanding ambassadors, what the big D doesn't know about monstrous halfstep power-beats and foul-mouthed bass hooks isn't worth knowing. Both tracks live up their names "Troubles" is a menace-ridden riddim loaded with paranoid skips and switches. Simple but devastatingly effective. Meanwhile on "Rugged" we find Distance getting even more aggressive with a razor-sharp riff and more emphasis on the quirky kick drums. Quintessential steppery from a man who knows how.

Review:
Get Darker, the D&BA affiliated imprint and go-to dubstep forum, comes forth with the fifth release on the label, this time from DJG. This three-track EP is a quality release that will have dubstep fans pricking up their ears at the heavy bass and weighty riddims which are in abundance. Starting off with the heavy tremors of title track "Rivet", this one is all about the smacking snares, catchy bleepy hook and powerful synths underpinning it. Next is "Melon" with its more space age feel, hissing hi hats and tense synths, and then finally "Anerley Grove" with its haunted, powerful overtones

Review:
Much sampled narcotics documentary The Beyond Within is referenced again in the title track heer, "Mental Universe"; those chilling lines "There is more to reality than meets a normal eye. Behind the curtain of everyday consciousness is hidden another unutterably strange universe..." make a return once more. Cue a discernibly hazy psychedelic swirl of trumpets, swaggering beats and trickling rhythms, punctuated by sampled snippets. Teaming up with Dark Tantrums for "Trianglez", Kromestar tunes into a more wobbly frame of mind with bubbling basslines in abundance, rallying cries and chopped up beats with grizzled synth work adding to the chaos.

Review:
The New Zealand based dubstep duo known simply as Truth continue their world domination plan with this devastating release for the Get Darker crew. Following on from their superb "Full Baked" release on Blackbox and last year's Puppets LP, they turn up the heat with "Direct Blow" which fuses Eastern vibes with snarling bass and slamming beats to concoct a seriously heavyweight number. For the flip "Snake" is an altogether more brooding, deeper affair with deadly subs and atmospheric pads. Deep and dark.
