Review:
Like the first volume, the second instalment of Great Carnival is loosely based around the concept of integrating South American sounds and influences into modern electronic music. On Tube & Berger's "Prohibition" and Hernandez's "Confetti" this idea manifests itself through the inclusion of celebratory horns, Mowgli's "Abacaxi" shows its love for Latin samples through the same vocal layered on top of itself until it creates an irresistible cacophony, and the rippling bass of Jean Claude Ades' "Latin Fever" drops unexpectedly into a celebratory piano riff. Not everyone gets in the carnival spirit however, and Andhim's "Holz Ist" and Rainer Weichhold's "One Willi For The Road" reference disco-tinged tribal and MANDY-style neo-trance melodies.

Review:
There's no doubt that the tenth instalment of Munich Disco has got the neo-tribal house sound down to a tee. While there are some diversions from the script, most notably on Pleasurekraft's rave stab-heavy tech-house and the throbbing techno of Deepgroove's contribution, the focus here is on rolling DJ grooves fuelled by infectious filters and insistent samples. There are a number of stripped back interpretations of this sound - check the Umek & Jay Lumen collaboration or Coyu & Edu Imbernon's sparse "Burn Myself" - but the most memorable moments are big tunes like Sultan & Ned Shepard's brass-sampling "Kitsch" and Mario Ochoa's "Brujos Y Hechiceros", where chiming bells and Latino chants have a bewitching effect.

Review:
This long-running running series has always excelled at delivering a diverse range of party music, and the twelfth release is no exception. DJ Chus & D-Unity's "Burn in Hell" is based on loose, organic drums, but the noisy effects and vocal snippets buried deep inside the glitchy percussive framework mean that it's not a textbook affair. A more streamlined version is available on Nicole Moudaber's remix. Oz Romita offers a jacking, electronic take on party house with "The Orient Express", while "Lionel Cookie" by Anthony Attalla & Tone Depth is a moody bass-led affair that sounds inspired by Kevin Saunderson's early 90s techno-house innovations.

Review:
This is a bit of an epic. Running to a recession-busting 27 tracks, the latest installment of Great Stuff's ongoing Organic Techhouse series is fit to bursting with deep, techy and groovy dancefloor tackle. While it's not all tech house in its purest form - there's actually rather a lot more in-your-face European jackers and bumpin' peaktime fodder - there's plenty to enjoy. Look out for new versions of Colorsound's string-laden City Rockers release "Fly With Me", a techy remake of Rah Band's electroboogie classic "Clouds Across The Moon", and further worthy tracks from Anil Chawla, Jay Lumen, James Talk, Luetzenkirchen and Plaine.
