Review:
The Korg OT-120 is an accurate and functional orchestral and band tuner.
Tune string and wind instruments in a flash with the OT-120, a band and orchestral tuner that combines the accuracy of needle-type meters with superior functionality, wide tuning range and a sleek vertical design. The Korg OT-120 chromatic band and orchestral tuner is intended for orchestral instruments, packing precise performance and sophisticated functionality in a vertical design that's easy to hold and operate. The Korg OT-120 features a dual-display, an easy-to-see needle-type indicator and a backlit LCD screen that shows the battery life, sound output level, calibration, as well as key and note name. Additional design features include a large dial that makes it easy to select the desired mode, soft-touch buttons and a rear-mounted stand that lets the band and orchestral tuner stand by itself. A sophisticated silver aluminum panel contributes to its sleek, new look. Since Korg developed the world's first meter-type tuner in 1975, the accuracy of Korg tuners has made them the choice of artists in all styles of music. With its wide tuning range extending from A0 to C8, the OT-120 lets you quickly tune any type of band instrument including, orchestra, wind, string, brass or piano. The Korg OT-120 also provides a wide range of calibration to support concert pitches in a range of 349-499 Hz (1 Hz steps). This band and orchestral tuner uses a high-precision needle-type meter to accurately indicate any pitch discrepancy. The speed at which the needle responds to the input can be changed over a range of three steps; you can choose fast, medium or slow speeds to match your tuning preference. You can also choose from 2 x tuning modes; auto mode, which automatically detects the pitch of a single note you play on your instrument, or manual mode, which lets you specify the desired note name. In manual mode, the needle movement is shown in a range of 50 cents, letting you view the tuning discrepancy over a wide range. In addition to the excellent visibility unique to a needle-type meter, the LEDs located below the meter also indicate pitch deviation or a perfect match, making precise tuning easy even in dim locations. The OT-120 produces a reference tone in a 5-octave range extending from C2 (65.41 Hz) to C7 (2093 Hz). You can switch the output level in 2 stages. The large speaker allows for more volume while not being obstructed even when using the stand, ensuring that the reference tone is clearly audible. The OT-120 also provides Korg's proprietary sound back mode. This mode lets you connect an optional CM-100L contact microphone to the input jack, and automatically make the OT-120's speaker produce a reference tone for the note that is closest to the input pitch you play on your instrument. The meter will also indicate the input pitch, letting you tune using your eyes as well as your ears for greater accuracy, and also providing a great way to train your sense of pitch. For conveniently tuning any wind instrument, 12 x types of transposing keys are provided in this band and orchestral tuner, including both sharps and flats. The multi temperament function provides 8 x presets that cover the most popular historical temperaments often used with period instruments. These are also ideal for checking unique temperaments used in classical music. The OT-120 is designed for an extended battery life of approximately 100 hours when running on two AAA batteries. It can also be used with an AC adaptor (sold separately). And aosl, a durable, suede-tone soft case is included. 16 drum pad MIDI/USB studio controller with X-Y pad
Review:
The padKONTROL joins Korg's expanding line-up of MIDI studio controllers. Adding another dimension beyond traditional keyboard control, the padKONTROL is the most expressive and versatile pad controller ever. In addition to accessing drum sounds and samples, the padKONTROL can also control soft synths and effects, trigger loops and video clips and even act as transport controls for DAW software programs. Combining an assignable X-Y touchpad that also provides for natural-sounding flams and rolls, sixteen great-feeling illuminated trigger pads, assignable knobs and a foot pedal input, the padKONTROL provides unsurpassed evocative control.
Beat It. The padKONTROL is ideal for creating natural, organic sounding drumbeats. Each of the sixteen pads can be individually assigned a note number and MIDI channel so you can control a single drum kit or map it to control different devices in your setup at the same time. Eight different dynamic curves are available for each pad, or you can set each pad to its own fixed level. This allows you to set up certain instruments to feel as you like, and others to always play the perfect velocity, no matter how you strike the pad. You can also set up multiple pads to play the same drum but at different fixed velocities, giving you varied but predictable performance every time. No matter how you set them up, you'll appreciate the great feel of the pads. They respond well no matter where you strike them, not just in the centre like many other systems. So you can freely play the pads with both hands, hit the edges or the centre and get responsive, musical results every time. The X-Y pad adds real-time control of both flam and roll timing and dynamics. Moving from left to right increases the speed of the roll, or the distance between the 'flammed' notes. Moving up increase the volume of the roll, or the second note in the flam. This is a highly expressive and intuitive way to produce these natural drum techniques. With an optional footswitch, you can even add real kick drum parts, or close a open hi-hat. Kontrol it: Drums are just the beginning. A MIDI message can be assigned to each pad, and they can be set for momentary or toggle operation. In addition to sending a value as the pad is touched, a specific value can be sent as the pad is released, so they can be used like buttons or switches to control any function on your soft synths and DAWs. Based on Korg's renowned KAOSS technology, the X-Y pad can be assigned to control any two continuous controllers in real-time. You might set the X axis to control pitch bend on a synth while the Y axis controls reverb depth. Or set them to control filter cutoff and resonance, or multiple delay parameters for evocative and expressive performance and mixing possibilities. 2 assignable knobs provide continuous control of two other MIDI parameters. You can easily invert the values sent from any of these controllers so you can quickly adjust them to your needs. Even the footswitch input can be set as a momentary or toggle switch for any parameter. Like the X-Y and trigger pads, the pedal also can send a specific release value. See it. Whenever you strike a pad or move a controller the built-in display shows what message or value is being sent, giving you accurate confirmation of what you're doing. The pads have a striking visual behaviour, which will move you to visually groove along with your playing. Pads assigned to notes light up when struck and then shut off. Pads assigned to CC messages stay lit to show their status. Three variations of the Illumination mode cause the trigger pads to light up in unique patterns. 2 begin when a trigger pad is struck, and a third starts automatically when the padKONTROL sits idle for a few minutes. The great feel of the trigger pads and the Illumination mode work together synergistically to catapult your performance to a higher intensity level than ever before. Manage it. Thankfully, once you have all the controllers set the way you like, you can save the entire set of assignments as a User Scene. Sixteen User Scenes are available in the padKONTROL itself, and they can be quickly selected using the pads. In addition, thirty preset scenes are included, designed to instantly match the padKONTROL to some of the most popular music software programs. The padKONTROL also comes with free Editor/Librarian software for Windows XP and Mac OSX. Using the computer's graphic capabilities, the Editor/Librarian software makes it easy to create, store and organize vast libraries of scenes and scene sets.

The compact, affordable, and easy-to-use Korg Pitchclip tuner offers highly accurate tuning, fast and ultra-responsive results, and excellent visibility.
As you play a string, the built-in piezo sensor will quickly sense the instrument's vibrations and indicate the pitch in the meter. The tuner and display portion of the pitchclip is extremely compact; the battery compartment has been integrated into the clip itself. Korg Pitchclip features fast pitch detection and processing, accuracy with i1 cent, and a detection range that covers from A0 to C8. The pitchclip's bright LED display ensures high contrast and a wide angle of visibility; the meter indication remains clear even in dimly lit locations. Adjustable through 120 degrees, the meter/display section can be raised to provide the player with good visibility while tuning in a natural position. A newly engineered type of rubber is used in the clip, allowing the reliable attachment to a variety of headstocks; ukulele, electric bass, classical guitar and so on. By relocating the battery compartment to the clip section, the meter display section has been made lighter and slimmer, lowering the overall center of gravity. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM3aAqGMWDg Polyphonic tuner pedal for guitar and bass
Review:
The Pitchblack series of high-performance pedal tuners bring together Korg's legendary tuner accuracy, versatility, and reliability along with easy-to-see displays and stylish diecast aluminum bodies. Now, the remarkable Pitchblack Poly adds the convenience of polyphonic tuning to the acclaimed pedal tuner line-up.
The Pitchblack Poly features Korg's revolutionary polyphonic tuning. Simply strum your guitar and the tuner will show which strings are in tune and which strings are out of tune, all in a single glance. Tuning with a traditional tuner required checking every string, one at a time, including strings that may have been perfectly in tune. Using the Pitchblack Poly's advanced polyphonic tuning, you can quickly see which strings are out of tune and adjust only those strings, saving time and letting you get back to playing! Guitar or bass (up to 6-strings) use is detected automatically, so there's no need to change settings. Guitarists who use especially a floating tremolo system will have noticed that one out-of-tune string may affect the tuning of the other strings, so a single flat string may cause the other strings to sound sharp. With a traditional tuner, this may require tuning and retuning each string multiple times. The Pitchblack Poly makes it easy to identify and correct the one flat string, causing the other strings to sound their correct pitch. Strumming the guitar displays the tuning status of every string, making it easy to see which string is out of tune. Simply turn the tuning peg for that string, and the String Seeker feature will automatically detect the string you are adjusting, and instantly display its tuning status in the large meter located in the upper part of the tuner. In addition to ensuring that you've tuned each of the out-of-tune strings, this convenient design also allows stress-free tuning even for those using a polyphonic tuner for the first time. The upper display provides a large, high-visibility meter with a row of bright white and blue LEDs that clearly indicate any pitch discrepancy. The lower display contains the meters for the individual strings. These will switch between bright red and green LEDs according to the mode. In the polyphonic mode, they show the tuning status of all strings. For mono tuning, they provide a large display of the note name. Large, bright, and colorful, this double-meter LED display ensures superb visibility, even when the unit is on the floor of a dark stage or in daylight conditions. When tuning individual strings using the Pitchblack Poly, you can choose from four LED meter display modes to suit your needs: Regular Meter, Full Strobe, Half Strobe, or Split. Regular Meter mode: As when using a needle-type meter tuner, tune the string so that the white LED in the center of the meter is lit. The illuminated LED will move to the right if the string is sharp, or toward the left if the string is flat. Full Strobe mode: Tune the string so that the LED meter illumination stops flowing. The illumination will flow from left to right if the string is sharp, or from right to left if the string is flat. Half Strobe mode: Tune the string so that the LED meter illumination stops flowing and only the center white LED is lit. The right side of the LED meter will strobe if the string is sharp; the left side if the string is flat. When the pitch is correct, only the center LED will be lit. Split mode:This mode is a first for the pitchblack series. It's a hybrid of Meter mode and Half Strobe mode. Tune the string so that the lit LEDs at left and right converge in the center. If the string is sharp, the right side of the meter shows the amount of the discrepancy, and the left side shows a half-strobe display. If the string is flat, the left side of the meter shows the amount of the discrepancy, and the right side shows a half-strobe display A guitar/bass polyphonic tuner

You can even put a key ring through the hole located in the upper part of the guitar and bass tuner, and attach the Pitchjack to your bag, the zipper of your guitar/bass case, or your keychain for quick and easy access whenever you need it. The Pitchjack also provides an LED light that can be truly handy when you're in a dark location and have to find the input jack for your guitar or bass, or when you need a bit of light in dark surroundings. Tuner & metronome with needle-style LCD meter
Review:
Use the tuner and metronome simultaneously. The TM-50 is your partner to help improve and refine your skills as a musician.
The Korg TM series allows you to use the tuner and metronome simultaneously. Since this single unit is all you need for both pitch and rhythm training, it has become a favorite lesson tool for brass bands as well as many other types of musicians. The TM-50 is the latest model, featuring a 2-level backlight that enhances the visibility of the LCD display. It uses a newly designed needle-style LCD for excellent response, and even greater tuning accuracy. In a first for this series, the entry-level model provides the Sound Back function that allows the speaker to generate the reference tone that's closest to the input sound, giving you a great way to develop and refine your sense of accurate pitch. Available in a choice of 2 x colors, black or pearl white, the TM-50 is the perfect daily practice partner that will support your development as a performer. The TM-50 features extremely fast response to audio input from wind and other instruments, and the redesigned meter display method allows the pitch to be accurately and instantly shown without any time lag. Wind players will no longer experience the problem of their pitch changing spontaneously before it can be displayed accurately; this ensures that you'll be able to develop stable and drift-free pitch. The detection range is extremely wide, extending from C1 (32.70Hz) to C8 (4186.0Hz) which covers the note ranges of wind, string, and most other types of instruments. Even potentially difficult instruments that have a low pitch and numerous overtones can be tuned accurately, thanks to Korg's proprietary high-precision technology. The built-in high-sensitivity mic also allows easy and accurate tuning of acoustic instruments such as guitar and ukulele; alternatively, you can use the separately sold CM-100L contact mic to send the vibrations directly to the tuner for even greater reliability. In addition to visual tuning using the meter, you can use the Sound Out function to produce a reference tone from the internal speaker or headphones, and tune by ear. You can specify the reference tone in a three-octave range from C3 (130.81 Hz) to C6 (1046.50 Hz) which covers a wide variety of instruments. The tuner can be used not only to detect and inform you of pitch discrepancies, but also as a tool that helps you develop the ability to hear and produce the correct pitch. That's why the TM-50 provides the proprietary Sound Back function* that until now has been featured only on Korg's high-end tuners. Detecting the pitch of your audio input, this function sounds the nearest reference tone from the speaker while the meter shows the pitch difference between your input and the reference tone. Since the pitch is indicated in both visual and audible form, this not only allows you to tune more accurately, but is also an ideal method for training your sense of pitch. Developing your ear in this way is an indispensible way to practice, especially for the beginner. *This function is available for input via the INPUT jack or when using earphones. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRHEuoCnI74 Tuner & metronome with needle-style LCD meter

Analog bass sound groove box & sequencer for the ultimate bass lines
Review:
The Korg Volca Bass is a powerful analog bass sound creation and an Electribe-inspired sequencer for the ultimate bass lines.
Although simple in structure, the analog sound engine has an unmistakable presence with subtle nuances that cannot be reproduced by a digital simulation; it's a great choice for acid house and many other styles of music. The step sequencer distilled from the Electribe is not only visually intuitive; it's also a powerful way to generate "free form" bass loops that will stimulate your inspiration. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=otudjl1FLB8 Vintage style analogue drum machine
Review:
Peerless beats generated by solid analog drum sounds and an Electribe-style sequencer.
A vintage-style analog drum machine from Korgs recently announced Volca series. The Volca Beats includes a 16-step sequencer and 6 x editable analog parts including kick, snare, Hi/Lo toms and open & closed Hi-Hats designed to provide sounds reminiscent of classic 80s drum machines. It also has an additional PCM engine which is said to produce 4 x Lo-Fi percussion sounds including clap, claves, agogo and crash sounds. There is one-knob-per-function parameter control for crafting each of the six analog sounds including click, snappy, pitch, decay and grain. The PCM sounds have control over pitch and speed. There is also a Level knob allowing volume adjustment of each part. The 16-step LED-lit sequencer has 8 x memory locations for saving patterns. It includes a recordable stutter function for generating repeated triggers (or drum rolls) and delay effects, an active step feature for quickly adding or removing individual steps, and a step jump function that will instantly play any step. Notes can be entered live as the sequencer is running. You can also wirelessly synchronise playback of all of the units in the Volca series with any iOS music app that support Korg's Wireless Sync-Start Technology (WIST) using their SyncKontrol iPhone app. This also allows control of the swing settings and fine control of the tempo (including tap tempo). The Volca Beats is battery powered (with optional AC power) and includes a built-in speaker. It weighs in at only 372g with dimensions of 193 × 115 × 45 mm (W x D x H). The Volca Beats editable controls include: Kick (click, pitch, decay, level) Snare (snappy, pitch, decay, level) Hi/Lo toms (hi picth, low pitch, decay, level) Open/closed Hi-Hat (closed decay, open decay, level) PCM sounds (pitch, speed, level). 3 voice polyphonic analog sound engine and loop sequencer
Review:
The Korg Volca Keys is an ideal introductory synthesizer, with a simple, yet powerful polyphonic analog sound engine and loop sequencer.
The Volca Keys is a long awaited synthesizer that adds a new chapter to the long and storied history of Korg's analog synthesizers. This 27 key analog lead synth delivers unbelievably powerful sound in a compact body. Starting with a filter section that uses the circuitry of the legendary miniKORG700S (1974), it delivers astonishing sound that takes full advantage of Korg's half-century of know-how in circuit design. With a simple structure that includes delay effect and a sequencer, it's also an ideal choice for a first analog synth. It offers the richly expressive sounds that are distinctive of analog, providing the enjoyment of simple yet deep sound-creation. The possibilities are endless; you can use the three oscillators to play chords, use them in unison with detune to produce solid lead lines, or apply ring modulation to create far-out metallic sounds. The Voicing function makes it easy to specify how the three oscillators will be combined. Choose between poly, unison, octave, fifth, unison ring or poly ring simply by turning a dial. Easy for those taking thier first steps into synthesisers, the Volca's simple design makes it easy to obtain a wide variety of sounds. Record phrases as you play them with the Volca Keys using the loop sequencer. With up to 16 steps, it's easy to create phrases as they come to mind. Use the overdub recording function to produce complex loops, with up to 8 sequence patterns able to be stored in internal memory. Craft your loops with the motion seqence function, apply time varying changes to your sound to enhance loops and add originality to your life performances. Skip a step during sequence playback with active step, a function that creates effects similar to a short loop or unexpectedly irregular rhythms. This allows you to create a dynamic performance just as though you were performing the sequence itself. Flux function lets you play back the phrase without quantizing the steps, producing a loop with a distinctive sense of groove. A useful self-tuning function constantly tunes the oscillators, so you never need to tune during a performance or wait for the pitch to stabilise after turning the power on. Connect the Volca Keys with the rest of the Volca Series or a Monotribe using the sync jack. A MIDI in connector lets you synchronise with other devices, play the Volca from any MIDI keyboard and send note messages from your DAW. The Volca Keys analogue loop synth has a compact size and a built-in speaker, easily playable anytime, anywhere. The ideal starter-synth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7rbcYJ326EI

The Korg Wavedrum WD-X responds perfectly to the performer's action, from subtly nuanced touching and stroking to aggressive hitting. It has a wide variety of instruments ranging from standard acoustic percussion instruments to new and unique percussion sounds.
Wavedrum establishes its own way of playing giving you unparalleled expression full of originality and depth. And with its compact and light weight design, the Wavedrum fits all performance situations from casual playing through to full on recording or performance. You can sustain sounds just by pressing the head. Applying further pressure can change the pitch of the sound continuously within the selected scale. Thus, you can express yourself by playing new sounds with new ways of playing available only with the Wavedrum. The Wavedrum helps inquiring creative performers who seek new expressiveness and sounds. Besides ordinary percussion sounds, the Wavedrum contains totally new and unique sounds that are not available in real world and offers new ways of playing for new musical expression. Changing the pitch randomly with each hit, or play melodic phrases by setting a musical scale and applying pressure to the head, a performance characteristic unique to the Wavedrum. The head and rim pickups are directly used as a sound source to be processed by the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) algorithms and trigger the PCM sound engine. Together with the pressure sensor under the head, the Wavedrum responds to subtle motions of fingers and hands such as hitting, rubbing, scratching etc. as well as to traditional hand playing techniques such as open shot, slap shot, heel and toe, mute, etc. Of course, the Wavedrum also responds to different playing materials such as sticks, mallets, brushes, etc., as well as the playing position of the head to play with the expression and dynamic range that are almost equivalent to that of acoustic drums and percussion. The rim has 2 types of notches, small and large, and these can be used to get a tremolo type effect by scratching with sticks, etc. Combine the rim sounds with head sounds for an even richer, more original performance. Percussion synthesizer and drum pad
Review:
The new Wavedrum Global Edition represents the next and most powerful evolution in the Wavedrum family. It boasts the largest palette of cutting-edge sounds of any Wavedrum to date; with sought-after percussion sounds from around the world, a major boost in the quality of each sound, and dramatic improvements in usability.
In 2009, Korg unveiled Wavedrum WD-X, a revival of the original Wavedrum that debuted in 1994. The reimagined '09 Wavedrum had a stunning impact as a performance tool that brought new expressive power to musicians-from users of the original Wavedrum to forward-looking percussionists. Subsequent models included Wavedrum Oriental with its added Arabic sounds, Wavedrum Mini with its unique sensor clip, as well as limited edition color models, and the instrument's unbounded potential has continued to accelerate the spread of Wavedrum mania throughout the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6mGdyboJndE

The Korg Wavedrum Mini synthesizer features a built-in speaker, battery-powered portability and a revolutionary sensor clip that transforms nearly any object into an instrument. Simply attaching the sensor clip (included) to any object or surface can transform it into a playable percussion instrument, providing a second sound to complement the Wavedrum Mini pad. The object to which you attach the clip will have a dramatic effect on how the sound is played, so you'll be making new sonic discoveries every time you use the sensor clip. The Wavedrum Mini synthesizer also comes with a convenient strap. Sit down, strap the Wavedrum Mini to your thigh and assign a snare sound to the pad. Next, assign a bass drum sound to the sensor clip and attach it to the upper part of your shoe and you've created a natural-playing drum kit that you can use anywhere.
Based on Wavedrum technology, the Wavedrum Mini offers 100 sounds, professionally programmed and ready to play. From acoustic-sounding drum and percussion sounds to cutting-edge sounds possible only on a synthesizer, the Wavedrum Mini offers a diverse range of sounds. Even instruments such as bass, tuned percussion and stringed instruments are included, allowing you to create both rhythmic and melodic performances. The tone of the Wavedrum Mini responds to the location at which you strike the pad and the amount of force applied, moving beyond a one-dimensional sound. The pad responds sensitively to every aspect of your strike, open shots, slap shots and more, allowing for a range of sophisticated performance techniques and complex musical expression. The Wavedrum Mini features built-in effects that make it easy to transform the sound itself. Each of the 10 high-quality multi-effects combines a variety of effects: familiar spatial-type effects such as delay, chorus and reverb; modern effects including filters and pitch-shifters that radically transform the sound; distortion-type effects that deliver analog-style warmth, etc. The Wavedrum Mini contains 100 rhythm patterns covering a range of styles. These patterns can be used as a guide to help the beginner keep a steady rhythm or simply enjoy jamming along. In fact, by using the pad, the sensor clip and playing a rhythm pattern, you can create a 3-part performance in real time. The looper function lets you record and playback your Wavedrum Mini performance. Plus, you can add an unlimited number of overdubs, creating complex multi-sound patterns. When you play along to these complex patterns in real time, you could create fascinating performances without the need for any other equipment. An AC adapter is included. The Wavedrum Mini synthesizer can also run on batteries, making it ideal for outdoor use or street performances. The built-in speaker is another attraction of the Wavedrum Mini, giving you the casual freedom to play on the spur of the moment and to share your sound alone or in an impromptu jam session. In addition to basic preset arpeggio patterns, the X50 also provides an additional 251 patterns containing various phrases. Of course, you can also create your own original patterns and store them in internal memory. Finding the right sound quickly when you have so many to choose from can be a problem on some systems, but not with Korg's.
