Review:
Reading's DJ Narrows lays claim to changing the UKG scene forever upon his arrival in 2001. Judging by the lion's roar of a bassline in this dark, techy, garage banger we're not going to argue! The toughness doesn't let up either - "Da Lion" (there's a theme here) adds some ravey flavours with a bit of wobble for good measure. "Prototype" is more melodic with slight 2-step influences but things heat up again, ending with the mechanical and relentless "The Promised land".

Review:
Nope, not the longhaired, foul-mouthed ex-husband of Katy Perry, this particular Mr Brand is an underground bass producer from Kent. It's a riotous EP from the get-go, with "Wobble (Wibble)" setting the tone via heavy sub, break beats and an instructional-style vocal sample. "Bare Foot" is based around a stop-start dancehall rhythm, bongo drums and a call and response bassline. Echoing early Chemicals or Prodigy, "Leap Frog" finishes things with driving electro bass and the toughest beats of all. A bruiser of an EP.

Review:
The artwork of this single suggests a corny 70s disco rework but nothing could be further from the truth. This is a badass slice of UKF with a meaty bassline and garagey rhythms, but the 70s do actually appear with the quite random sample of Gladys Knight's cover of Kris Kristofferson's 'Help Me Make It Through The Night'. Truth is stranger than fiction, but you what? It works!
