There are few names in trance worthy of pioneer status, and even fewer who are still making big plays to this day. Which makes this latest from Airwave ('Save Me', 'Above The Sky') all the more special. The deep and meaningful title being fittingly portrayed in the emotive soundscapes of all three tracks on other. With a nostalgic edge and melancholy charm, the title track is where most of the beauty lay, although the heavy acidic sounds of both 'Reset' and 'Atlas Winds', are also worth a spin, to take you back down memory lane!
We have been treated to some great new music from the legend that is Airwave over the past few months. With him and 00 Flemming's coming together being a holey matrimony that has sparked creativity and wonder across both their productions. This latest EP on the pairs collaborative label venture is one of the finest of the year, balancing that famed nostalgia with a futuristic edge, amongst the thee it's 'Game Of Life' which grabbed us in an instant. An intriguing and emotive progressive journey with subtle melodic beauty and a thought provoking vocal. Lead track 'The Wrath of Tambora' is a certified winner on the floors, and 'The First Three Steps' wraps it up by sitting nicely between the two.. We are all over this!
Romeo & Juliet (Nico Parisi vs Erik Hubo remix) - (8:13) 128 BPM
Being part of the Bonzai empire, of course means that the A&R'ing at LCD Recordings is second to non and their penchant for a progressive treat equally strong. Here we have an interesting collaboration between trance megastar Airwave and the perhaps lesser known (but just as prolific) Nico Parisi, a man with over 20 years experience in the Belgium dance scene. Taken from Airwaves forthcoming album, this is a intriguing peak-time progger with a gentle melodic build and stand out chanting vocal that will have you instantly hooked. For something a little tougher and more driving, head for Nico's remix alongside Erik Hubo.
