Review: Mournful and melancholy from the off, this release from Light Of The Night is one for the liquid heads. "Rain Tears", with its rom com connotations and cinematic intro, pairs piano keys in the minor key with rattling breaks, chopped up repeated vocal and yearning instrumentals. "Feel The Difference" (feat Hit n Run) is a deeper cut with bass, horns and a sense of enormity to the emotion. The eponymous track of the EP "Seconds Before Parting" juxtaposes bursts of energy with muffled vocal utterings and "Gray Smoke" rounds things off with gurgling SFX and twinkling melodies.

Review: Schematic steps up with a beautiful four tracker on Liquid Brilliants. Evocatively entitled the Mellifluous EP, first track "Wherever I Am" is a flurry of flutes, ticking breaks and floaty, dream-like atmospherics. And so the tone is set for the rest of the EP. "Memory", a slightly edgier piece, with rolling beats, murmuring bass and bongo pattering steps things up, before "Curves", a punchier, vocal-led beast kicks in with rough drums and grumbling subs. Rounding things off, we return to where we started from with "I'm Losin You", a strumming, sonorous liquid roller with gentle, lilting rhythms aplenty. Lovely.

Review: From Russian label Liquid Brilliants comes this first full-length release from Shalka Ninja who dices things up nicely on "Funky Hell". From sampling Madness over a moody intro to rocking funk horns on the good times-filled "Check It Out", the album is an eclectic treat. "Find Shluhy" uses big chunks of Reuben Wilson's version of "Inner City Blues" while "Let's Scream" cleverly chops up The JB's and arranges it over a tight, live-sounding drum break - just two highlights from a contagiously funky LP.

Shuffling drums, rolling beats and swooning vocals are in merry abundance in the title track, which features Dirty Genes and Mariella, and this one rolls along for the duration. Lovely stuff. Review: Russian label Liquid Brilliants return to their stridently upbeat Riders EP series for a second time, with six tracks of typically summer flushed rolling beats dipped in liquid excellence. Jammy kicks things off with "Spend the Night With Me" which expertly lines some chipmunked R & B vocals alongside warm melodies. Alongside it Haik-Adu & Londy's "4 Forward" implements a similarly liquefied rhythmic approach to a naggingly familiar and sweetly soulful sample. Elsewhere the brilliantly titled "Root Beer Float" sees Bank draw on lilting Oriental tones over a sinewy bassline, whilst Three20 drops the biggest sounding roller here with the expansive tough workout "Care Package".
