Just as the winter months get tough and January blues kick in hard those people at Liquid Drops have the antidote in musical form and it comes from an array of artists including Mr Joseph, Critycal Dub, Cosmology, Funkware and more. Prepare to get fully involved in "Liquid Colours 2: Winter Edition" as you let the lush, liquid sounds roll over you. Kicking off with Mr Joseph's beautiful, gliding "Forgotten Emotions" with its melancholy tones, piano keys and murmuring vocals, we are treated to such gems as Velocity - "Jelly Break", Critycal Dub's "My Everything" and later on Physical Illusion - "The Test" and many more. Dbase provides a DJ mix for the ultimate listening experience.

A cracking EP here from Duoscience, which covers a range of flavours across its five-track duration. First up, "So Real" goes in deep and minimal with fluid melodies and swirling atmospherics; next "Absolutely" contrasts Ram circa 98 style booming sub bass with quirky SFX and pattering breaks. Next we have "Safira" which again, swings between low-slung moodiness and experimental eccentricity. "Emotions Place" is another one which is dominated by bleepy melodies and booming bassiness, and then last but not least "I Saw This Before" brings the EP to a close.Liquid Drops come up trumps once again.

Usually the world's first stop for hard-nosed techno, eurotrance and some of the greatest clubs in the universe, Germany's Marvel Cinema are repping the loved-up sunshine-dappled vibes of deep and soulful drum and bass. Not your usual place for heady, vocal-based d&b, granted, but this lovely little EP shows its worth over four neatly packaged tracks of pure springtime. Breezy stepper "Sunflower Seeds" oozes sophistication and soul, while "Road Runner" adds some rave ethos to the mix, stepping the beats up a gear. The obvious Indian influences of "Lost In Mumbai"extend into some serious jungle vibes and "Moonrise Kingdom" chops and cuts Pharrell Williams into some hard-edged jungle breaks. It's a bit of fun but an obvious labour of love for these guys who obviously have a passion for their craft.

MSDOS brings the musical mayhem to Liquid Drops with his percussion heavy approach, which dominates this four-track EP. First up is title track "Sun Rising" which is all frantic percussion and weird, warping SFX, coupled with distant, eerie vocal sampling. "Aperture" continues the journey with a more bass-heavy approach and tooting trumpets in the background, whilst "Dreamless" is another quirky cut with punchy beats and last but not least "Arty Fellows" brings the EP to a close with cooing vocals and sonorous SFX.

Review:
A fun, funky and uplifting collection of tracks here from MSDOS on Liquid Drops which provides a slice of something different for tired D&B fans. The Trumpet Toys EP kicks off with the title track, which is all jovial SFX, pumping beats and light percussion. Then we move on through "Blue Road" with its vintage sampling and jazzy elements to "Big Waves" with its cinematic sounds, rattling breaks and dramatic builds. The EP is brought to an end with the lilting sounds of "Lonely Times" and acts as a gentle way to end a truly delightful EP.

Review:
Following the liquid vibes of the delightful Soul Waves EP on Liquid Drops, MSDOS returns to the label with fresh UK talent Payback for an album of collaborative soulful vibes. "Soul Searching" opens with a combination of nostalgic piano tones and distant diva vocals, while "Only You" has subtle hints of jazz saxophone buried within its deep subs. Tracks like "Sweet Enigma" and "All My Peeps" meanwhile are given a more abstract edge with their cavernous staccato dub chords, all held down with insistent rolling drums and viscous bass, though our pick is the brilliant "Inspired", with its distorted vocal monologue, sweeping pads and phased jackhammer rhythms. On the basis of this collaboration, Payback should well be a talent to watch very closely indeed.

If you like your D&B lush, lilting and liquid to the core then look no further than this four-track EP from Subway Funk on the ever-reliable Liquid Drops label. First up is "Autumn Break" which is all shuffling breaks, swirling rhythms and plenty of mellifluous atmospherics. Next is "Girls" with its shimmying rhythms, cooing party style riff and murmuring bass - guaranteed to make you smile. After that comes "Love Changes" which is full of cheery guitar strumming and wistful melancholy murmurings; and then "Information Highway" rounds the EP off in style.
