Review: Black Ghosts/Simian singer Simon Lord teams up with Dillon Francis for a track that's every part as beautiful as it is vicious. Kicking off with one of Dillon's richest, acid-tinged roof-raising riffs to date, it's all lasers and bass-faces until we hit the breakdown and Simon does his distinctive thing. With all levels of funk and even fractured disco going on behind him, Simon's succinct chorus causes temporary relief amid the carnage of the main drop. A tune of huge contrasts, this one's all about the party extremities.

Review: For years mankind has been pouring hot sauce on his chips to give them extra welly - now you can pour it on your DJ set-up for added 'oomph' too. Not physically (please DO NOT pour real sauce on your decks!) but metaphorically as Canadian stadium smashers Zeds Dead head up a very spicy EP on Diplo's imprint. "Demons" is a riveting slab of half-step drama complete with horror strings and all the trimmings. "Mr Sub" follows and lives up to its name with some slinky, sexy sub-bass fun. "Playa" is the hype-hungry track of the bunch thanks to a hair-raising high-end bleep riff, "Rave" meanwhile takes the new school breakbeat style and subverts it with contemporary menace, and "Trouble" finishes the set with Hudson-style halfstep psychedelia. Very hot indeed.

Review: After Diplo let a sneaky sampler loose earlier this year, there's been quite a buzz about this comedy hip-hop crew. Although comedy doesn't quite do them justice; sure, their tongue-in-cheek rhymes and observations are funny, but they're executed with deft delivery that's not far off the youthful stylish sprite of early Death Row. Pastiche, parody but mainly pure party, cuts like the dirrty rumper "Bong Hits" and the more ghetto-minded "Paranoid" are far from mere titillation; they're proper bangers. Another wise move from Mad Decent.

Review: Expect fun and frolics by the bucket load in this six-track EP from Jamaican dancehall outfit The Party Squad. Kicking off the EP with "Go Down Low", it's all pitched up, chopped up chipmunk lyrics and Major Lazer style swinging beats. "Badman" sees the introduction of Alvaro with catchy vocal hook, chirpy synths and bleepy melodies a-plenty, whilst "Gunshot" injects a dose of humour with chopped up, distorted vocal and insistent, pattering beats. Review: Don your party hats as Mad Decent wheel out a bonafide beauty of a release from Diplo in "Express Yourself" (feat. Nicky Da B). Getting things started with a snap, crackle and pop, Diplo goes straight in with an array of effervescent sounds, fidgety beats, sirens and chopped up vocals and bubbling booty bass. Review: Progressing from underground remix heroes to full-on electro superstars in a breathless whirl, the Crookers have learned the lessons from their debut LP. Instead of trying to encompass all manner of styles and tempos, as they did on Tons of Friends, their latest Dr Gonzo project sees them fixed firmly on the floor with 13 huge club/electro/bass bangers to bug out to. Shorn of their original chewy basslines and fidgety drums, Crookers in 2011 are tighter and leaner, as evidenced by spooky opener "Dushi", while the demented leads and sub-punishing simple bass thuds of "Dr Gonzo's Anthem" are also a treat. Their first outing, the stutter-tastic "Bust 'Em Up" (done with Savage Skulls) is thankfully included, while guests including His Majesty Andre, Style of Eye, Surkin, Neotric and Wax Motif make for an impressive supporting cast, especially on the gabba-techno recalling "Texx".

Review: The enfant terrible of the dubstep world provides us with another anthem which has been causing a ruckus in dancefloors from London to LA. The euphoric trance synths, bleepy SFX and distorted vocoder of "Everyday"'s intro prepares us for the smacking snares and jittery mid range wobbles which dominate the main tune. Remixes from Hospital poster boy Netsky (hands-in-the-air dancefloor D&B), DJ Q (smoothed out, syrupy funky) and Original Sin (sped up, turbo charged John B style tear out) complete the package. Not forgetting of course, "Lick The Lizard" (feat. Reso) which is fun and synth-driven frolics all the way. Enormous!
