Review:
Something a little different courtesy of Kerri Chandler's Madhouse imprint. Gabriele Carasco is a classically trained pianist; here uses those skills to the full on an EP of expansive piano house jams. But this is not piano house in the traditional sense. Lead cut "The Piano" is little more than seven minutes of classical solos with a simple house beat, while "Jazzy" offers a contemporary take on St Germain-ish jazz-house. "Brain" delves deeper still - all drifting chords and tinkling ivories - whilst "Passengers", the most authentically 'housey' track of the lot - sounds like some of Kerri Chandler's more hypnotic works. Chandler himself remixes, delivering a version that brings to mind vintage Ame.

Review:
When Kerri Chandler's "Heaven", a classic slice of vocal house in the New York veteran's inimitable style, first dropped last month, it was accompanied solely by mixes from the man himself. Here, it gets tweaked - many times, it should be said - by Phil Asher and Tony Loretto & Jacko. While the latter's four rubs (two different mixes in vocal and instrumental form) are quite nice (particularly the more electronic "Peak Time Mix"), it's Asher who steals the show with his Restless Soul interpretations. Of these, the Dub is perhaps the pick, with its wigglin' bottom end, US garage swing and bubbling synth riffs - though his full vocal version is refreshingly upbeat.

Review:
Manchester-born, Berlin-based deep house star Tony Lionni and Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records: it sounds like a marriage made in heaven, right? Correct. Reliable as ever, Lionni delivers four cuts that will tease, titillate and ultimately seduce any DJ who loves sophisticated house music. There's a loopy, bittersweet organ groover ("Lost Souls"), a tough, bass-heavy, off-key thumper ("Try My Love"), an hypnotic, late night head-nodder (the delicious "Body & Soul", one of Lionni's best yet), and a cascading, ever-rising chunk of classic techno that will send shivers down the spine of any self-respecting clubber ("Positive Vibration"). Bravo!
