Review: After 15 years in business, Fanon Flowers' Mechanisms Industries label releases a record by an artist that shares its name. While the jury is out on who is behind the alias, there is no doubt that he/she serves up three excellent underground techno cuts. The first "Antikythera Mechanism" centres on a repetitive chord sequence and is powered by heavy, doubled up claps, while the second version revolves around more stripped back beats and a less forceful approach. Finally, number three features a heavier, grainier rhythm and sees those hypnotic chords build to a more dramatic climax. Like all great techno however, every track shares the same trait of achieving a lot by doing little with few elements.
