Review:
Audio Werner showcases two distinctly different styles for Minibar. "Anytime" is a more conventional minimal house track; stripped back but melodic, layered but undertsated, it has echoes of mid-00s Villalobos and even some of Luciano's work for Perlon as rhythms, drums and sublte hooks overlap and Werner adds some suitably trippy elements like a timestretched bassline. "Ever" is a totally different proposition: inspired by the jazzy house of mid-90s Chicago, its clipped drums, hissing percussion and swinging groove support tinkling piano lines recall Wyndell Long and Gemini at their most sensuous - which is the highest accolade anyone can pay a modern day producer.

Review:
French label Minibar delivers a high-quality minimal release from Ben Vedren. The title track manages to host dark and light moods as a repetitive rhythm track supports lithe drums that skit across an atmospheric chord sequences like clouds blown about on a windy day. The inclusion of a waif-like vocal tips the balance in the favour of the track's deeper elements. As its title suggests, "More Dub" is based on a tracky, dubby groove with half-heard vocals and tight claps also populating the arrangement, but Vedren takes it back to a more musical place for "I Know You More", with a massive chord sequence breaking down over a tight rolling backing track.

Review:
Apart from the smart play on words in the title, there's much to recommend the latest release on French minimal label Minibar. "Mourne" strikes a perfect balance between dense drums and glassy percussion, in turn providing the backdrop for a series of eerie bleeps and a surging bassline. "Highhouse" meanwhile is more stripped back, its lithe, bouncy rhythms giving way to breathy chords. "I Feel So Ree" is more broken, with mysterious vocals warbling away in the background. Finally, "Peniche" sees Pit Spector rip up the rulebook; a stepping rhythm houses a series of deranged vocal samples and old school flutes, making for a weird but wonderful melange.
