Review: This is a timely re-issue of Brookyln-based re-edit fiend Munga's first EP on his own, self-titled imprint. Originally out in early 2011, it offers a decidedly different set of grooves and production techniques to his later work, which has more often than not opted to blend house and disco. These edits, though, are largely faithful to the originals, with the odd filter trick, additional percussion line and hearty drum kick here and there. Opener "Love In The Fast Lane" is a joyous slab of 80s disco-soul, while "Heart Heart" goes deeper into an obscure 80s synth-boogie groove. "If You Want Me", meanwhile, offers a simple, largely instrumental take on Ecstasy, Passion & Pain's disco classic of the same name.

Review: This second release from Brooklyn-based studio boffin Munga is another impressive exercise in the art of blurring house, disco and re-edits. While the sprightly, floor-friendly electrofunk jam "On The Floor" is clearly a re-edit (and a good one at that), both "Treat Yourself" and "Can't Keep Holdin' On" should probably be classed as sample-heavy original productions. Both rely heavily on big chunks of disco records (see the fantastic rubbery bass and funk guitars of "Can't Keep Holdin' On"), but offer far more than simple loops and filters. "Treat Yourself", in particular, hovers somewhere between nu-disco, house and good old fashioned disco thanks to sharp drums and even sharper synths.

Review: Over the past 12 months, Munga has successfully established himself as one of a new wave of producers contributing something different to the flagging re-edit scene. Here, he presents another four-track collection of edits-not-edits, tracks that re-imagine famous or lesser-known tracks with the aid of more than just a few tired FX. Opener "Spread Love" turns a breezy disco-funk cut into a synth-heavy electro-funk/nu-disco fusion, whilst "Binary" dubs out a lesser-known electronic disco oddity in pleasingly Balearic fashion. "You & Me" adds sparkling two-step beats to a horn-toting disco-soul jam, whilst "Tell Me" delivers a gargantuan slap bass-totin' disco screamer.
