Review: Veteran DJ A Paul may not have the same global recognition as some of his peers, but Diversions shows that his productions are on a par with any of techno's leading players. "Toma" is a killer rolling workout, its evil riffs reminiscent of the highlights from French label Good Life. "Flam" is tougher and faster; centred on a malevolent filter, it sounds like Ben Sims in particularly aggressive form. "Chords" continues to follow a 90s-influenced path, with "Red"-style riffs arcing over building chords and a rolling backing track. The Autopilot and dub versions of "Flam" are couched in white noise whooshes and complete this excellent club techno package.
