Review:
From the picturesque climes of Naples, Italy comes the newly established Old Future Music label, proffering an ethos to deliver quality Deep House steeped in it's Mid Western US traditions. In enlisting the masterful Rick Wade to take controls for their debut release, Old Future serve note of their serious intentions as the Detroit Lotus Style EP is superb. The Harmonie Park boss seems to be at the height of his production powers right now, with the three original Motor City soul arrangements here every bit as tasty as Never Ending Reflections, Wade's LP that dropped recently. Fans of "New For U" by Andres will be all over the sumptuous "Phantom Of The Deep" which has Wade lining the lower reaches with glowering chords and vibed out textures as the track rides along on a killer skipping beat. Those wanting something a bit rowdier will bask in the brilliance of "Nasty Disco" which dovetails between moments of cluttered rhythmic genius and swooping disco sampledelica, while "Wandering" demonstrates Wade's poise with rugged beatdown grooves and ankle hugging basslines.
