Review: There's a big difference between the minimal sound that Catz n Dogz first rose to prominence with a few years back and the approach that they have chosen for Lenonki. "Professor Nice Love" starts off as a deep, building house groove, but its swirling chords go down a psychedelic route, leading to a trippy break down and later still a time-stretched bassline. The link to 2-step/speed garage becomes more pronounced on the dub version, where acid riffs compete with a rude sub-bass. "Mass Confusion" with its stepping rhythm and exhortation to move your body, completes this most unexpected of transformations.

Review: Transsistor is one of the finest vocal-tinged house releases this year. The title track squelches and grooves in an irresistible manner, and when the breathy 'hey hey' vocals kick in, it is reminiscent of vintage Terry Francis tech-house. But the killer cut here is "Miss You". Over a rolling groove, tight, clipped drums and a bassline that can only be described as predatory, the unnamed female vocalist offers a seductive, lusty narrative to listeners. It makes for a compelling combination and by contrast, "Sorrow" sounds positively innocent. Featuring a mid-tempo rhythm, it boasts melancholic synths and breathy vocals. However, it shows that Pol On has a head for songwriting as well as track-making - and both skills come together on Transsistor.
