A South African producer who's been quietly garnering big love from Eglo's Alexander Nut, Benji B, Chrissy Murderbot, Bok Bok and more, Jumping Back Slash probably won't remain much of a secret for long if this third EP is anything to go by. The moody kwaito funk of "Flaai Baba", the hypercoloured bass funk of the excellent "Pap En Jam" or the driving groove of "Shosholozaaa" are all simply essential purchases for fans of unique and gleefully fresh bass music, as is the whole EP for that matter, especially the deep dub-house of "No Love". A highly recommended release.
Something refreshingly different for you here as Pollinate records welcome a new signing in the form of Portuguese producer/dj Marfox. Following his debut EP on Principe, here he delivers five tracks in his unique Kuduro and Batida styles. Two genres which although well outside-the-box, do have many elements to make them work in progressive and techno sets. All five are percussion led with lots of interesting programming and use of a wide variety of drums and fills. There is a strong tribal edge and a relentless roll to them all. If your into the likes of Buraka Som Sistema, and Zombies For Money, then we would highly recommend checking these out.
