Review: Does the title track pass the tool house test? Dense, tribal beats? Check. Surging, rippling bassline? Check. Splintered vocal sample? Check. While "Nails" has all of these elements, it also contains moody, menacing chords and an acidic bassline that speeds up to a dizzying pace before breaking down. Raffaele Rizzi's remix also defies expectations: building from a stripped back base, his tracky arrangement includes a pumping bass and ominous, filtered chords that hang in the air before imploding. "Dance Everybody" sees Ahautzab depart further from the script, as a squelchy liquid bass and soulful vocals intone the title to ensure a deeper but tripped out sound. David Glass's spiky, staccato drum-led take on "Everybody" completes this exemplary package

Review: The aural equivalent of having your brain bashed out by a brick, this heavy metal-meets-skullstep variety of dubstep isn't exactly to everyone's tastes, but if that's your thing then boy, are you going to be blown away by Bong-Ra. The Monolith EP marks the first release on Prospect Recordings and makes a bold statement of intent from the off. Kicking off with the gritty, vocal-driven title track, it's all clashing SFX, power subs and grating mid range. We move through such mad moments as "Dawn Of The Megalomaniacs" with its massive guitar riffs, pounding drums and gratuitous violent edge to the relentless pounding of gabba-like "Crawlers", which brings the EP to a dramatic close.

Review: With track titles like "Threat", "Black Ninja", "Extreme Punishment" and "Murder", even without knowing the Dub Elements' impressive history in D&B, dubstep and breakbeat circles, you should get an idea of their extreme flavours. Nothing, however, can really prepare you for the total sonic savagery of this long player. Aggressively chewing their way through the tempos with demonic, industrial glee, this is one pummelling party that even manages to find space for almost gabba-style techno ("Murder"). Highlights include the old school jungle edge of "Truth Rising" and the demonic tech monger of "Go Party!" but in honesty the whole package wallops. Get with the program.
