Review:
Recorded by DAP aka Daniel Poli, Andrea Mazzini and Philippos Nikiforakis back in 2004, Brush Your Lips has aged well. Featuring house head Lance De Sardi on vocals, it harks back to a time before minimal and fidget went their separate ways. It has a tracky, relentless feeling, imbued with the rawness of Chicago, the precision of digital production and best of all, De Sardi's risque vocals. "Little Deeper" follows a similar trajectory, albeit with a vocal snippet and a more rolling groove, while "Manipulation" is harder and more upfront, its powerful bottom end propelling snares to their inevitable, irresistible climaxes. The Jamaican vocal-sampling "If you Were Liquid" recalls the tripped out tech-house of Grant Dell and Terry Francis.

Lee Van Dowski takes up where Luciano left off with Father and Fourges et Sabres. "On" is a rambling organic groove, supported by loose, at times almost ramshackle drums which support melancholic sax playing and then later what could be Middle Eastern pipes. The whole thing threatens to fall apart at every bar, but Van Dowski keeps it together through the use of an effective filter. Despite this, "On" constantly surprises, and by turns reveals mad guitar strumming, rambunctious jazz squalls and even half-heard chanting. "1977" is not as off the wall and is based on a tighter drummy groove, but it too has an adventurous feel thanks to its skittish piano lines and bluesy guitar riffs.

Review:
This newie from Berlin-based production combo Liviu Groza and Kennedy Smith was recently referred to online as "DJ tool house". It's an odd but kinda apt description. It's in many ways typical of the style that Rekids boss Matt "Radio Slave" Edwards has made his own - druggy, tracky, intoxicating and bristling with strange noises, dubbed-out pianos and razor-sharp snares. It sounds like it was tailor-made for after-parties and afternoon-after-parties. Amir Alexander remixes, delivering a deeper, drifting take full of bubbly bass, hissing cymbals and crunchy analogue percussion. It's a quality alternative to the out-there original.

Review:
It's borderline ridiculous to think that seminal UK producer Mr G aka Colin McBean is only releasing his debut LP in 2010. Since starting out as part of the KCC DJ trio in the 90s, G's discography has grown with releases on labels including Defected, Duty Free, The End and Skint, as well as remixes for the likes of Miss Kittin, Josh Wink, Xpress 2 and more. Nonetheless, his debut, released via Radio Slave's Rekids imprint, is worth the wait. Aptly titled Still Here (Get On Down), it takes the listener on a journey through McBean's wide range of influences, which touch on the fringes of acid house, funk, soul, rock, roots, blues and jazz. Album highlights include the tech house groove of opener "Blessed" to the locked in funk groove of "Space-Bassed".

Review:
There are countless labels and acts flirting with the old school house sound - but is Rekids one of the few genuine flagbearers for classic Chicago dance music? On the evidence of Only, the answer is a resounding yes. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Gala does not worship at the altar of Larry Heard and Adonis, but in the church of Relief. The title track's slamming, relentless rhythm, metal-plated drums and insistent stabs are interspersed with a chopped up vocal sample that recalls Cajmere at his most deranged. Ryan Elliot does a fine job with his remix, with lithe hats skimming their way over deep chord sequences, but it's all about the original version.

Review:
Matt Edwards's label makes another smart signing with this release from Nikos Galatsopoulos. The same kind of driving throb that Edwards made his name with as Radioslave is audible here on "Dope Beat" - with beefy drums and a simple but effective filter keeping the arrangement dynamic and dancefloor friendly. A similarly utilitarian approach is evident on "Tunnel Vision", but in that instance the sounds are more techno-focused and the repetition centres on a deep chord build that breaks down and restarts. However, the most memorable moments here are "Hi Fly" and the title track. Underscored by infectiously catchy, summery disco filters, the former will garner all the radio play while the latter's Ian Pooley-like groove will rule in techno and house clubs alike.

Review:
Although its been over a year since the release of Nina Kraviz' debut album, Rekids have decided to joins forces with Detroit's FIT in much the same manner as the Rush Hour hook-up last year that spawned some excellent remixes of Kraviz from Steve Rachmad and Kink. This time it's a Motor City affair as two artists well suited to Kraviz' stripped back style offer their take on her material. First up, Marcellus Pittman takes the trippy, dubbed out tones of "Working" and puts it through a digital blender, turning it into a minimal masterpiece which feels more impressionist collage than remix, dropping fragments around a loose rhythmic framework. Then its the turn of Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray, who adopts his Urban Tribe persona to rework the dusty vocal soul of "Taxi Talk", turning it into a throbbing, straight up big room track with early 00s undertones present in its unashamed pomp and neon synths textures.

Review:
Siberian singer/producer Nina Kraviz has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last few years, thanks in no small part to a killer debut 12" (2009's "Pain In The Ass"). Here she drops her long-promised debut album for Matt 'Radioslave' Edwards' Rekids imprint, a collection of unusual deep house, downtempo and leftfield pop cuts with her own unique twist. It's a decidedly atmospheric and forward-thinking collection that mixes her fragile vocals and off-kilter production with live instrumentation and decidedly bass-heavy grooves. It's a wickedly original formula, capable of delivering haunting songs ("Fire", Hard Ton collab "Walking In The Night"), fuzzy floorfillers ("Ghetto Kraviz") and spooky downbeat grooves ("The Needle"). Highly recommended.

Review:
Russian producer Nina Kraviz gets remixed in three radically different ways. KiNK's take on "Love or Go" is a mellow affair, with dubby drums mixed with a resonating bass and a warm acid bleed leading into a sensuous breakdown. By contrast, Steve Rachmad puts the focus on the dance floor for his reshape. The Dutchman's 'Jack' version is powered by heavy drums and Kraviz' vocal contribution sounds like it has been taken over by a montone robot as an atmospheric filter pushes it into an epic breakdown. Rachmad's 'Scorp' version is far heavier and more stipped back, with tearing acid lines unravelling over metallic beats and the robot reduced to intoning what sounds like 'techno, techno, techno'.

Review:
REKIDS give "Aus" from Nina Kraviz's heralded self titled album its own release. Remixes come from The Rhythm Odyssey, DJ Q and Radio Slave as Matthew E. "Aus" is as low-slung and sultry as it is loose and minimal; King Aus preaching all things house music and freedom in tune to church-like Rhodes. DJ Qu focuses on looping the key elements of NK's original, creating a deep and hypnotic mantra while The Rhythm Odyssey brings the p-funk with a walking bassline in his "Warehouse Tape edit", similar to Mike Dunn's "Phreaky MF". Radio Slave works the bassline in his mix also, but substitutes The Rhythm Odyssey's disco groove for some up beat ghetto-funk, while adding flashing camera samples and random snippets of the warning bleeps a car makes when keys are left in the ignition.
