Review:
Swedish producer Andreas Saag has been making jazz-tinged dance music for a decade now, and his 2002 release, Jazz Lesson was his benchmark release until now; Leslie's Vision however is about to propel him into the big league. A gloriously uplifting arrangement featuring sensuous woodwind, seductive piano keys and the most heart-stopping breakdown since Sue Ellen's on-screen implosions, it is an understated contender that snatches the jazzy techno crown from Garnier and Craig. On the off-chance that it doesn't become this year's "Man With The Red Face", Room With A View have sensibly included the 'Deeper Perspective' and 'Deepest Perspective' remixes, which see growling, acidic basslines pushing those sensuous keys onto the dancefloor.

Review:
La Debandade is the follow up to Art of Tones' EP "The World As I Live It", released on Room With A View last year to much critical and popular acclaim. All three tracks offer Ludovic's take on the classic 90s US house sound that inspired to him to begin producing, and these classic influences are engrained deep in the three originals on offer: "About Time" combines a thick, bumping bassline with a diva vocal and jiving Wurlitzer, while "Dolces" combines a feel good Paradise Garage vibe with Balearic accents. La Debandade offers the most contemporary feel, with a soulful house track filled with Gallic melodic charm. The EP is rounded off with "Bonus Beats" versions of the first two tracks, stripped back for DJ use, and a reprise of La Debandade which offers a more laid back version of the driving original.

Review:
Following on from last month's superb "Tuff Luv" EP, Toronto based Basic Soul Unit makes his Room With A View debut with a three tracker that displays his futuristic take on classic sounds. Deeply connected with the original feel of classic labels of the Trax, Strictly Rhythm, Nu Groove and DJ International ilk, BSU's "Midnight Ridim" creates a fascinating hybrid of futuristic techno with classic Detroit and Chicago overtones. By keeping jazz influences in toe for the release too, this is a dynamic EP that is simply not to be missed.

Review:
Collaboration specialist Phil Dairmount (boss of A Room With A View) delivers another joint enterprise. This time round, he's joined forces with label regular Matti Nowakowski for a spot of treacle-thick, jazz-flecked late night deep house. "Dust Devil" is pretty energetic, despite its 117 BPM tempo, and sits somewhere between hissing jazz-house and the twinkling, atmospheric deepness of Mr Beatnick. It should appeal to anyone with time for either Moodymann or the more organic works of Motor City Drum Ensemble. The package also includes a drum-heavy dub that strips the track right back to its bare bones, alternating between the heavy percussion and crackly chords.

Review:
If the key to making a great split EP is to ensure that every track stands out in its own right, then Room With A View have hit the jackpot with their latest all-star effort. There's no fluff or filler, just a quartet of pleasingly playable deep house groovers. Dave Aju kicks off proceedings with the thumping but spacious "Love Tap", a swinging shuffler that benefits greatly from some cute top-end percussion touches. Nowakowski's "They Get Up" is intense and off-key while remaining suitably deep, while Iron Galaxy's darting "Refining Fire" recalls the acid-laden "intelligent techno" of times gone by. Best of all, though, is Taron Trekka's "NemDa", a hip-hop-meets-deep house chugger with jazzy keys for days.

Review:
Al Veilla and Frederic Blais (better known as veteran deep house producer Fred Everything) join forces for a one-off missive on A Room With A View. "Blue Fish" is impressive in its deceptive simplicity. In its original form, it's little more than a sturdy groove, nu-disco style synth bassline, a few electronic noises, the odd deep chord and a rising and falling melody, yet it's both wonderfully attractive and solidly floor-friendly. The Dub is an altogether tougher proposition, basing the action around the synth-bass groove, while the near-beatless Outro emphasizes the gorgeous melodies and touchy-feely chords.

Review:
Nothing short of epic, this 11 minute track from Marino Berardi is a must hear for fans of awesome dub techno and inventive deep house. Having previously had releases on Francois Kevorkian's Wave label and Josh Wink's Ovum, as well as steady collaborations with Phil Dairmount over 2009, this sees Marino go it alone with devastating effect.
"Best Intention" has already drawn high praise from Trevor Jackson and Deetron, and it's not hard to see why. Densely layered synth strings ebb and flow over the track's hypnotic groove, and give a new meaning to the term "deep" house. It's seems almost never ending, in a good way of course. Seattle producer Pezzner also turns on the charm with a warm, percussive take on the original that adds some funk but doesn't lose any of the original's intensity and melancholy, while Derby-based newcomer Christo turns in a mix that introduces some tastefully wonky claps and a clutch of soaring filtered strings.

Review:
Marlow can usually be relied upon to deliver woozy, soul-flecked deep house with a surprisingly sturdy underbelly. That's certainly the case on this second solo EP for Germany's Room With A View imprint. His style is deceptively atmospheric, like a combination of German deepness and the jazz-flecked offerings of Detroit's beatdown crew. Check the cowbell-driven hypnotism of the coolly soulful "Keep On", or the rubbery disco/deep house flex of "This IsIt". Be sure to turn your attention to "Need U" - it's like D-Train making deep house, circa 1995. Which, for us at least, is a pretty tasty idea.

Review:
While its releases have so far been sporadic, Hamburg's Room With A View has an impressive pedigree. Under the watchful eye of owner and A&R man Phil Dairmount, the label has proved a constant source of quality house and techno over the last three years - as this 15-track retrospective neatly shows. There's much to admire, not least Dairmount's overriding passion for machine soul. Everything here is touched by raw, electronic beauty, be it spine-tingling vocal techno (the wonderful Sebastien San/Aaron Carl collaboration "Faces"), Larry Heard-ish Chicagoan deepness (Motor City Drum Ensemble), melancholic futurism (Sasse, Basic Soul Unit) or smooth deep house (Art Of Tones).

Review:
Martin Nowakowski hails from Gothernberg, Sweden, and to date has released a handful of interesting EPs for Room With A View and Pets Recordings. Here, he returns to the German imprint with a varied EP bristling with jazz flavour and off-kilter groovery. Based around a simple theme - the colour magenta, funnily enough - the EP's five tracks range from chunky, twinkling deep house ("Magenta 4") and Circulation-ish melodic hypnotism ("Magenta 5"), to classic breakbeat-driven prettiness ("Magenta 1") and decidedly sweaty jazz-house (the rumbling "Magenta 3"). It's all executed impressively, suggesting that Nowakowski could be a name to watch.

Review:
Finnish house DJ and Moodmusic boss Sasse delivers a superb compilation and mix that spans a range of tempos and styles. Dairmount & Berardi's "Omni" is a slow motion, dreamy groove, while elsewhere Marlow delivers a breaks interpretation of the old soul standard, "Being With You" and Art of Tones's "The World As I Live It" is an irresistible disco-led groove. Sasse hasn't deserted his love of house music, and "View" boasts Russ Gabriel's Lil' Louis-inspired take on Petter & Dairmount, MCDE's superb warm, Heard-style "Moving Through Clouds" and Sasse's own tranced out "Shades of Grey" and "Lake Michigan", a cowbell-heavy, slightly eerie Detroit techno groove.
