Review: The Rycote INV-BH InVision Microphone Suspension addresses the demand for a professional, Rycote-quality shockmount in the studio, conference settings and speech capturing applications.

The entire mount is comprised of 2 large InVision Lyres with 2 clips that accommodate microphone bodies measuring 19mm to 34mm in diameter. The Lyres rest on a bar with a 3/8" threaded stand adapter at the base.

The stand adapter itself features an integrated cable clip for securing excess cable and minimizing noise. The unique lyre suspension is engineered with Hytrel for a virtually indestructible design that maximizes shock and noise suppression.

The InVision suspension system is available in various clip sizes to accommodate different microphones. The versatile 19mm to 34mm mounting clips included with this system are intended for mounting a wide variety of microphones.

Studio kit includes the InVision Universal Pop Filter + the Universal Studio Mount

Review: The Rycote 045 005 InVision USM-VB Studio Kit comprises of an InVision Universal Pop Filter (available separately as Rycote 045001) and a Universal Studio Mount (available separately as Rycote 044912).

The InVision Universal Pop Filter (045001) is a pop shield for optimising vocal recordings. It utilises a custom foam mesh that is capable of attenuating low-frequency vocal pops and thumps by up to 20 dB. Unlike most ordinary nylon pop shields the InVision Universal Pop Filter achieves the low-frequency attenuation without causing audibly detectable high-frequency loss.

Featuring an ergonomic frame, the pop filter is designed for placement at a close proximity to the mouth and face of a vocal artist. The custom manufactured acoustic foam mesh filter can be removed for cleaning and replacement foam inserts are also available (sold separately).

The Rycote InVision Universal Studio Mount (044912) is a universal studio microphone isolation mount which uses Rycote's innovative Lyre technology. The Lyre suspension uses no runner or elastic components to isolate the microphone from unwanted shocks and handling noises, instead the design of the shape allows a specific compliance to the microphone, and so prevents the handling noise reaching the capsule. The materials used within the Lyres allow the working temperature of the suspension to far exceed any elastic or rubber shock mount or suspension. The operating temperatures for the Lyres is quite extreme and ranges from minus 35 degree Celcius to over 100 degree celcius. The USM uses 72 shore hardness black Lyres.

The microphone is held in place with 4 adjustable thumb screws which have swivelling non slip pads on the end, making it possible to support microphones with a body diameter of 55mm to 68mm, and weights of between 500g and 900g. The main support hoop attaches to a stand via a swivelling spigot with integral thumb screw enabling the user to adjust the microphone angle to suit. It comes supplied with a 3/8" to 5/8" thread adapter.

Please note, for microphones between 400g and 750g in weight a standard weight version is available called the InVision USM (044901), or in kit form the InVision USM Studio Kit (045002), which uses the 72 shore hardness black lyres. For microphones less than 400g in weight a lightweight version is available called the InVision USM-L (044903), or in kit form as the InVision USM-L Studio Kit (045003), which uses the 62 shore hardness red lyres.

Microphone shock mount and suspension system for cameras or camcorders

Review: Part of the larger InVision range of noise-reducing microphone shock-mounts, Rycote's InVision Video is a shock-mount and suspension system for high-quality external camcorder microphones between 19 and 25 mm in diameter, and up to 300mm in length, enabling camcorder users and videographers to get the best possible sound for their productions using external camera-mounted microphones. A lightweight, durable clamp holds the microphone in place, and is itself suspended in two of Rycote's w-shaped patented Lyre mounts, which provide substantially better isolation from camera motor, drive noise and vibrations than traditional on-camera microphone mounts. The Lyres are attached to a mounting bar which may be slotted into the hot shoe mount on top of your camera or screwed into the quarter-inch thread available on some camcorders by means of separately available adaptors.

The InVision camera hot shoe adaptor is designed to support microphones with a shaft diameter of 19mm to 25mm including the slab sided Sennheiser MKH series. It attaches to the camera hot shoe by employing a 100mm long slotted mounting bar which allows you to slide the cradle and rotate it through 360- of movement, ensuring the microphone is always out of shot.

Review: Affordable but offering excellent, effective protection against wind noise, the standard Mini Windjammers are easy-to-fit slip-on fur covers for use when recording outside with the built-in microphones found on portable cameras, external camera mics and handheld reporter microphones. Some have 10 mm fur, while others have 25 mm Softie fur for use in more unsettled conditions, and can be fitted to a wide variety of devices.

Review: The Rycote Miniscreen Camera Mic Windshield 116402 is suitable for most camera-mounted shotgun microphones, the stylish Miniscreen and Miniscreen Windjammer provide a low profile slip-on windshielding, with excellent wind protection of up to 36 dB.

The Miniscreen is a rigid, blimp-style windshield that is slipped onto the front of the microphone. Made from a laminated combination of netting and fabric material, the Miniscreen provides a snug fit to the microphone and offers up to 18 dB wind-noise attenuation when used on its own.

Review: The 041119 Portable Recorder Suspension from Rycote is a compact and versatile suspension mount for portable audio recorders. It uses patented Lyres to provide excellent isolation from vibrations, shocks and handling noise. The Lyres are also unaffected by temperature extremes, allowing it to be used in harsh environments.
