Review:
Shogun Audio's Alix Perez is one of the scene's most interesting producers, providing a genuine buzz for each new track he puts out there. Featuring storming remixes from artists across the full spectrum of dance music, the hip hop inspired beats of "Annie's Song" is first given the jungle treatment from Hospital Records don S.P.Y before Shadow Child rips up the stylesheet and presses on with a full-on garage bouncer. Maddslinky, Zed Bias' UK funky alter-ego chops up the original to hit the dancefloor with a blast from the past and finally "We Could Have Been" rounds up the release with a trip down more familiar rolling Alix Perez territory. So many styles, so many talents, it's a must have yet again from one of D&B's big guns.

Review:
The Shogun Audio boss comes up with a little surprise on his Brighton-based label. Taking a step away from the likes of Perez and Rockwell, his Led Astray EP is a slab of unashamed Radio One-toting drumstep filth! Screeching synths, bass groans, catchy vocal hook and warm instrumentals all feature heavily. Culprate's remix is heavy, transforming the original into a punishing dubstep lurcher. The Sigma remix of "Stand Up (feat. Dynamite MC)" accompanies, bringing the 2010 original bang up to date with a cool twist.

Review:
What happens when you cross one of drum & bass' most prominent DJs and label owners with one of the dubstep scene's most influential and successful producers? Friction and Skream, two titans in their own scenes, have done just that with "Kingpin", and it's undoubtably the sound of now. With hints of trap and big grime influences in the form of sharp flows from Scrufizzer, P Money and Riko Dan, it's a release that's right on the money. Calyx & TeeBee's remix is darker and techier, adding an edgy drum and bass vibe to the original, wheras Rockwell adds his frenetic style. You never know what this guy is going to come up with but he's come up with a dancehall/bassline/grime/garage hybrid that would make anyone dance like their legs were on fire. Jay Fay on the other hand is big, ridiculous and techy - imagine Daft Punk's evil twins were separated from them at birth and grew up in Kingston.

Review:
A man more often scene behind the decks than in the studio, the Shogun Audio head honcho brings forth his Someone EP. The eponymous track of the EP, a favourite of Fearne Cotton's no less, is a commercially minded, euphoric, vocal-led banger, featuring vocal work from McClean. A super-slick slice of summery D&B here from the Shogun Assassin. "Flip The Page" is on a more pared down vibe, with whirring b-line, upbeat drums, tinkling melodies and plenty of sparkle. A surefire hit for the ravers. Remixes come from The Prototypes and Rockwell, with the former rising South Coast duo serving up a half step infused effort that comes across as a rougher variant on DJ Fresh's chart chopping endeavors. In contrast Rockwell lays the focus on the emotive potential of those vocals, pitched down, scratched up and placed amidst a restrained arrangement dipped in fuzzy atmospherics and diced up syncopation.

Review:
Having already hinted at it on his album Under The Ice, this represents Dutch ex-pat Icicle's first full sub-low exploration into dubstep; and each of the four tracks on offer are true, hypnotic treats. All to be filed under the more rhythmical, loopy, techno-inspired dubstep sub category; "BNC" struts with fancy footwork and deep chilling synths, "Acid Step" slithers with a slinky, stripped back formula that'll work well for warm ups and transitions, "Need A Job" takes dubstep by way of Detroit while "Together In Dust" finishes the set with a truly trippy signature.

Review:
Taken from Icicle's recently released album Under The Ice, the Redemption EP takes the title track and re-packages it with remixes from Alix Perez, Marco del Horno, an instrumental and "Galacticstep". "Redemption" blends house, techno and dubstep into a futuristic roller with Robert Owen's iconic, ethereal warbling over the top. Then it's over to fellow label mate Alix Perez, who ups the tempo with eerie atmospherics and crisp, acerbic beats and twisted b-line pressure. Rinse FM's Marco Del Horno delivers a late night 4/4 interpretation, full of tribal drums and house influences. Last of all, added track "Galacticstep" adds another dose of deep, minimal ice-cold dubstep to the proceedings to round things off.

Review:
The second single from Jeroen Snik's forthcoming debut album Under The Ice, "Dreadnaught" is a superlative heavyweight roller from the ineffable Mr Freeze. Set firmly at "26 degrees below sub zero" and featuring the lyrical talents of SP:MC, it's undoubtedly one of the North London beatmaker's heaviest productions to date. With its tense alarm style bleeps, bleak atmospherics and phenomenal bassline pressure, this one's been killing it on the floor for the past few months now. Up next, "Arrows" tunes into an altogether different vibe with Spanish guitar, flutes and an old skool Bristol vibe. Can't recommend this enough.

Bristol based D&B-ster Interface heads to Brighton for his debut release on Friction and K-Tee's Shogun Audio imprint. "Desperate Measures" is all whirring bass, fidgeting drums and quirky programming, which should get the feet dancing and the heart racing on the dancefloor. A big thumbs up for originality here, especially in the dramatic midway breakdown. Accompanying this is "Fallen Angels" with soulful, sultry vocals courtesy Jay Wilcox. A warm, humming bassline glistens below the uplifting vocal work and makes for a winner in our books.
