Review: A new addition to the still fledgling label Skrufix, Mightythor announces his arrival in style - with a heavy hammer hit of his unique take on funky. ""Walk In Stomp" sounds like a retro electro-funker stumbling confused around a garage all nighter - all hazy and warped, but still in the zone. The Crane also steps in and delivers some precision work, all shuffly beats, male soul vocal cuts and deeps writhing basslines.

Review: A brand new label, and one that clearly hints at some quirky things to come. Things With Wings and Skrufix? A larger picture will almost certainly be revealed in due course. In the mean time, let's tuck into this strange hybrid; 8-bit MIDI style composition, trippy breakbeats, steppy rhythms and bass-led melodies. It sounds familiar, yet completely fresh at the same time. Nodding a head at the Dirtybird style silliness in dance music, this has potential to really twist a few minds this summer. For even weirder, more splintered sounds head to the MightyHor remix. And for something a little beefier? Zoonka's remix has it nailed. An intriguing debut!

Review: Following their debut release from Things With Wings, fledgling imprint Scrufix return with the debut from Turtlez. "I Want To Fly" is a piece of bass-infused house packed with subtle melodies in a Four Tet vein, with charmingly scrappy percussion and an amen break that catches you off guard. Meanwhile, Nottingham producer Spandex provides his take on the track, stripping the melody right out and transforming it into a delightfully rubbery slice of oddball techno, full of rhythmic verve and intricate vocal trickery.
