Review: UK producer Latcha tells it like it is: he simply produces 'anything club music based: house, tech, garage, bass ...plus anything in between'. We couldn't have put it better ourselves, and this EP, his first for Slime, contains a smidgeon of all these flavours. "Viable" is a remarkable voodoo percussion odyssey complimented by what sounds like reversed panpipes. "Call It That" on the other hand, is deep house with a garage drum kit and Orbital-style echoey synth pad melodies. Inventive stuff!

Review: Usually when the term 'deep' is thrown around dubstep it means dark, dank and dungeon bound. Not today, though: The "Moda" EP flips this formula assumption for something much more organic. The title track is a stuttering guitar-based lullaby that sounds not dissimilar to Warp's Clark. "Chrysalis", meanwhile, is as softly spoken as a Bonobo joint. "Enveloped" follows on a similar flex with developed rhythms and lush over-layered guitar twangs. "Leaves" leaves us lingering with the most meditative moment of the set. Deep, delicious and soulful - dubstep needs more of this.

Review: New kid on the block Groofeo steps up on Slime Recordings with his irresistibly grinding Hybrid EP - a suitable name given the dude's masterful blend of half-step beats and chimerical atmospherics. "Outside the Earth" lies somewhere between Calibre's majestic jungle rhythms and Oneohtrix Point Never's drones - a winning combination. "Synchrophasotron" is a stunning chugger, reminiscent of early DMZ, bringing back those lazy, sludgy kicks with subtle swirls of UK nastiness emanating from all angles. "Melancholy" meanwhile takes a broken beat arrangement and completely twists it on his head, giving us a slow-burning and soulful jazzy soundscape for the early hours.

Review: Underground garage upstart DJ Blakey - sadly not a big fan of the infamous character from 'On The Buses', as far as we know - returns to spiritual home Slime with a decidedly summery chunk of deep garage. Those who like their 4/4 garage a little more subdued will enjoy its loose and fluid mix of skippy beats, bold melodies, atmospheric chords and Todd Edwards-inspired vocal cut-ups. Given the ubiquity of sillier garage-influenced jams at present, it makes a refreshing change from the norm. The obligatory remix comes from D&B type Basher, whose raw junglist onslaught - all warped bass, scattergun beats and old skool flava - is in stark contrast to the comfy original.

Review: Despite sounding like an ill-fated 1980s left-of-centre political party, SPD is actually, in fact, Liverpudlian deep-tropical producer Will Dunbar-Sheppard, and this sizzling new EP features four future-facing bass tracks. Deep ain't the word for it; "Habitus" features haunting effects, shimmering piano, hypnotic vocals and gently glitchy beats, "Simulacrumb" is sublime house with glacial synthlines, "Held Hands" is an incredible mix of urgent tropical beats and truly other worldly synth pads while "Street Flutters" ends things in beautifully sombre fashion.

Review: Retrospekt's last outing for Bristol-based digital imprint Slime, "Rolling" was something of an unconfined floorfiller. "Popularity" flips the script, allowing the little-known producer to indulge his deeper side. He does this well, combining woozy chords and post-garage grooves with the head-nodding pulse of contemporary deep house and a smattering of ear-pleasing touches. The slower "Get It" is, if anything, even deeper, working some fuzzy nu-disco melodies and sparkling chords over a chugging groove. Like its predecessor, it gets just the right balance between comfy home listening fare and dancefloor-friendly shuffle.

Review: Rather like the blob in the eponymous 1950s b-movie, the Slime keeps oozing! With each new release seeping into further into every corner of dance music's cities and towns (ok, ok, they're simply getting more popular, right?) Physik's latest is a doomy two-track belter: "Younger Days" certainly doesn't evokes memories of a happier youth with its haunting atmospherics and 2 step beats. "Torn Apart" is similar although trippier, with slo-mo junglist rhythms and mournful piano and sax motifs.

Review: Ahh! The good old days of 8-bit video gaming (when a typical game cartridge took up about as much memory as an email does now). Duck Hunt then, for the Nintendo, 'reimagined' by Hybu as a raw and lo-fi slice of tropical UKG with a bit of pixelated funk for good measure. On remix duties we have Blnd who takes things in a sparser, linear direction. Plot Twist adds luxurious pads for a mellow and exotic joint and Heblank who opts for a high energy ravey rework. Sadly a light gun isn't included.

Review: Just the mere fact that somewhere in the world a record label called 'Slime' actually exists, make us happy bunnies (maybe we're easy to please). The fact that they're also very good is even better, and with this newie they're keeping up the good work. "Waiting" is a hysterical UKG tune that's been taken aside, had a few honest words in its ear and then sent to spend some serious time in a floatation tank. In other words, relaxed! "Back To The Future" is a totally cool slice of moody tech garage and Pikcha steps in to put his arm around the title track and take it to a New York house club.

Review: Bristol's Slime label has always been difficult to pin down. To date, their bulging catalogue has touched on most genres, from dubstep and garage to minimal techno, rave and hard-to-define electronica. Here they're at it again, delivering a mixed-up two-tracker from self-proclaimed "Renaissance Man" Aleks Zen. Both tracks sound like party-friendly deep house made by a man who listens to a lot of modern bass music (particularly "Unrequited Lust") and classic, shimmering techno. There's even a touch of nu-disco about the cowbell-laden sweetness of "Transcend & Unity". There's certainly much to admire about both tracks.

Review: The vogue for a druggy take on 90s swing is still in full flow and this joint right here is a top-notch example. "Love History" is a slow bump n grinder with watery synths, stoned beats and delicious late 80s tropical riffs - all perfumed with wafts of gentle 'oohs' and 'ahs'. Lovely. Remix-wise: Laney adds some 8-Bit bleeps, Sker gets high and nods off on the keys of his fender rhodes, Mr Beep adds perkier tropical beats and Manul goes harder with some post-Dubstep-isms, while Lojt and Elias Smith opt for slick and deep/retro house respectively.

Review: Usually found promoting the freshest, slimiest, bass bombs, Slime Records have opted for synthpop for their latest release. Based in Paris, VHM makes rave-flecked pop songs. "Cold Jam" is a melodic slice of indie-pop married to dance beats with breathy Euro vocals and a recurring vintage house motif (remarkably similar to Simian Mobile Disco's 'Cruel Intentions'). Remix-wise, Jack the Hustler pitches those vocals to pre-pubescent levels for some serious peaktime bassline fun. Meanwhile Mad:Am go for a killer mix of vintage house, wobble and a tropical percussive freak-out.

Review: Wonderfully titled label Slime was founded in 2010 with the firm intent to 're-capture the wide-eyed thrill of the first age of rave'. Since then they have put out a multitude of forward thinking releases all leading to this, their second label compilation. Literally bulging with underground goodness, the tracklist weighs in at 26 full-length tunes (plus a free one!). Highlights of all this madness include the sparse 2 step of "Jaded" by Akin, the twitching, percussive "Sunwan" by SPD, the dreamy 3am RnB vibes of "Communication" by Totte, the deeply seductive rimshot house of DYP's "Vices" and the ominous rave of "There's No Way" by Frequent Flyers.

Review: A promising EP here from Retrospekt on the interestingly named Slime label which delves into an array of sounds and styles across its four-track duration. Kicking off with title track "Rolling" its all about the helicopter-esque chopping beats and pumping, yet understated, euphoria as we start. Vocal snippets are interwoven into the fabric of the tune for a sense of entrapment. Accompanying this is "Rebuilding Dreams" which takes things on a more melancholy tip with mournful piano keys, terse pumping beats and a grinding sense of monotony beneath it all. Remixes of the title track come from Resketch who takes things up a peg and Livewire, who ups the tempo by several knots.

Review: Emerging bass monkey Bhok has pressed the 'Dreamy' button on his beat machine for "Glacier". A wispy, floaty composition of house and garage coated in sparkling arpeggios and a well manipulated selection of vocal snippets, this is instant spine-tingle material that's not dissimilar to the output by Phaeleh. For "All For You" he's kept the 'Dreamy' function in full effect while repeatedly hammering on the 'Anthemic' and 'Lush' buttons. If only producing was that easy!

Review: Aaron Static delivers something a little special here on the wonderful Slime imprint. "251" gets things started with delicate, intricately woven rhythms and uplifting melodies. The intro is one glorious instrumental sweep with cooing SFX and deftly placed beats, building into a deep, hazy main part with considerable skill. "Reflections", on the other hand, ups the ante with warm, undulating bass and pattering drums in a more recognizable D&B format. This one bridges the gap between listening at home and a more dancefloor-orientated beat well. Take heed.

Review: Know why they call this kid The Attic Project? Because there's plenty going on upstairs. Seriously; breakbeat as enchanting and captivating as this doesn't come from some empty-headed jerkwad who dreams of shiny objects and little else. There's a complexity, depth and timelessness in these tracks that aren't always on the breakbeat agenda. The three cuts err on the warm-up/headphones side the spectrum, celebrating the charms of the east with western production and dancefloor techniques. Euphoria fans should head directly to "The Art Of Trauma", a piano-blessed chiller coated in emotion, it's not far of Rob Duggan's ubiquitous "Clubbed To Death". Beautiful.
