Review: Given the complementary nature of their respective output, it makes sense for Deep Christopher Rau and Moomin to join forces as Roaming, and it makes further sense that their regular base of operations Smallville would be more than willing to release their work together. Believe In Reflecting is the mastered results of a series of "off-the-cuff improvisation sessions" undertaken by the two German producers, with both "Our Dream Of..." and "Believe In Reflecting" typically bathed in a sepia-tinted glow and complemented by sparse, introspective drum programming and raw, bluesy samples. Smallpeople aka Dionne & Julius Steinhoff round off a superb invitation into the world of Roaming with a more forceful rendition of "Believe In Reflecting".

Review: Given their love of all things old skool, it's perhaps unsurprising that Smallpeople's latest EP doffs its cap to a number of classic dance releases. The moody and hypnotic "Black Ice" has a real old R&S feel to it, reminding us of Jaydee's "Plastic Dreams", Capricorn's "30 HZ" and, most bizarrely, "Age of Love" - admittedly with a Model 500 sheen. "Stellar", meanwhile, casually fuses veteran Detroit and New York influences with the modern pulse of 2011 deep house, while the lazy "Little River" sounds like Beatdown after a night out in Berlin.

Review: Stefan Laubner is the undisputed master of the left of centre house groove and on "Where Have You Gone", he proves his worth yet again. Spacey, somewhat mysterious melodies float through the arrangement, appearing gradually over Laubner's trademark doubled up, scuffled beats. He adopts a similar approach with "Inverted Reality". There, grinding sounds and a heavy bass make the off beats sound more deranged and out there. However, it's with "Your Turn" that he really impresses. The track marks a departure of sorts for Laubner, with a dubby, snaking bassline at its centre, and the metallic drums and a linear rhythm marking out the German producer's most techno focused release to date.
