Review: Dean Sunshine Smith's Sunshine Reworks series certainly delivers on its promise, offering illicit, floor-friendly re-interpretations of soul cuts that don't so much glisten as blind with their inherent summeryness. Combining elements of classic soulful house, Revenge-ish slo-mo groovery and Terje/Idjuts style dubbed-out disco production, Sunshine Reworks offer some orange-tinted relief from depressing winter weather. Both "Oh Honey" and "Love Odyssey" tick all the right boxes, striking an impressive balance between letting the vocals breathe and impressing the dancefloor. The results are sunnier than a Balearic summer and twice as sultry.
