Review: Lush liquid vibes from Flaco here, with a Youngman style vocal laid over the top. A glowing atmospheric intro with rolling percussion and nicely placed hi-hats leads into the main tune and rolls out til the end. The melodies seem to be seeking redemption in the hollows of the soundscape, with swirling background sweeps and lilting lyrics. Review: A four-track delight of an EP here from Roy Green and Protone, who delve into the subterranean cavities of deep, dark, rolling D&B and beyond. First up is "Contrivance" with its Lock Stock sample, sharp, terse snares and deep, murmuring bassline. Then it's on to "Liquid Coxinha", exploring a more liquid style with chirruping instrumentals, warm atmospheric sweeps and gently shuffling breaks. "Gone So Long" has a D Bridge meets Spectrasoul vibe with a touch of Robert Owen to the vocals - all clinking piano keys, soulful vox and a pervasive sense of yearning. "Rubik" marks a return to the deeper, techier sound with rumbling bass and sharp breaks. Recommended.
