Review:
"Oranges" remains one of the most enduring tracks to feature on Stone Breaker, Mark E's debut album released on Spectral Sound last year, finding favour with a broad spectrum of DJs and even being complemented by a deft Jacques Renault edit. In order to satisfy those rueing their decision to invest in an "Orange"-less vinyl edition of the album, Spectral have given it a deserved single release, with a complementary "Space Dub" from Mr Evetts himself. This release provides a welcome chance to re-familiarise yourself with what is a sumptuous example of house music at its most simplistically effective, those warm synth tones proving just as delightful to your senses all these months on. In essence, the "Space Dub" is a pretty apt title - launching in the manner of a rocket skywards through a cosmically charged array of fizzing machine textures and piston heavy rhythms, sounding like a completely different track until Evetts slowly teases through those familiar melodic elements.

Review:
The new Ryan Elliott-curated Spectral Sound compilation, Document is the label's ultimate manifesto of its decade-long evolution. Typically for the imprint, this compilation traverses a range and styles as it plays homage to Spectral's old guard and revered guests, including the likes of Elliott, Audion, Hieroglyphic Being and James T. Cotton, whilst also bringing in the sounds of the new breed such as Seth Troxler, Lee Curtis and Kate Simko. Lawrence and Bodycode bridge the gap in between, making it near on impossible to give this superb mix an overall label - except perhaps to say that it is a superb representation of the past, present and future of one of the most important labels in contemporary electronic music.

Review:
He may only be in his mid-20s, but Ashique Subhan's latest release makes him sound like he has been involved with house music for decades. Featuring Beckford on vocals, "Lover's Night" is a deep, resonating track in the classic Knuckles/Red Zone vein, at the heart of which there is a narrative about seduction. While Beckford's resonating tones dominate the original version, the dub version will be of more interest to DJs. There, Subb-An dispenses with the vocalist's services and the driving, dubby beats, jacking, swinging rhythm and spine-tingling house chords prevail. In a scene that centres on disposable music, "Lover's Night" is destined to endure for years to come.

Review:
Steadily rising French producer Yakine is making his way in the world with this prominent release for Spectral Sound. The title track sees him pairing up with James Teej, crafting a smooth grooving and carefully deep tech house jam which should be huge in the likes of Space this year. "For Motion" meanwhile goes darker into stripped back machinations full of echoing percussion, much like its counterpart on the B-Side, "Disaster Drop". "Except" keeps things lighter with a sensitive melody, but the emphasis is definitely on the functional rhythmic elements across this whole EP.
